soooooo..... we are willing to keep our status to police and lock up our youths, but it is another story when we are assigned to participate in their reform.... Is that a demotion or an opportunity to influence our youths and make a meaningful contributions?

I think that this article captures all our imaginations and indeed, it highlights and draws our attention to a significant issue; however, there are many more of us who would like to share our story but given our level of social standings and connections, our expression of grief and warning for others are too often censored and not publicized.

But if we are arrested and brought before the court for crime or some hideous event like being slaughtered on the street by our fellow oppressed, we make news. In this case, Mr.& Mrs. Dupuch-Carron are fortunate to be at the helm of a widely read local newspaper, or rather, daily news broadcast.

We shall take, learn and be warned because of this generosity. But there are so many other pitfalls that others have fell into and wish to bring to the public's attention as a warning. These too can save lives and help to bring improvement to our social development. They too can help eradicate ignorance and bring with it a sense of order to our 'Beloved Bahamaland'. But again, these expressions are censored and toss to the side as insignificant by the editors. And so society just goes on repeating the same tragic mistakes over and over again.

You own a newspaper, Mr. & Mrs Dupuch-Carron, that's good. Many unfortunates wish to also express their grief but do not have an outlet to convert their pain into a lasting legacy and help others as you have done. We are hereby warned and encouraged to be our brothers' keeper likewise. I hope that in the future you allow these expressions of grief to be expressed in your newspaper/broadcast.

May Aidan, the great grandson of my fathers' (Joseph McBain Johnson) fellow World-war I recruit and post wartime friend, Sir Etienne Dupuch, rest in peace.

**What's wrong with being smart and insightful given that we, as a country, have perpetuated and promoted illiteracy as a way of life for our citizens?** Isn't that what we ought to encourage our children to be (smart and insightful)?

If your enemy slaps you on one cheek, turn to him the other as well. Rather than be afraid of the Chinese, let us do better than the USA. Let us study and learn from them.

Though we are an island nation, we can surmount to high heights. Italy is an island nation too, yet Rome once ruled the world. Any country that appears to be pulling itself up out of the muck, the USA will oppose it, *i.e.* Iran..

Mandela & Readers alike,

NOTE: actions are born out of thoughts; and thoughts, originates from indoctrination, teachings and experiences. The issues of rapist, murderers and thieves are consequences of our own social culture. There is a need to institute reform throughout our education cultural and social institution so that we can produce and culture citizens that know and accept that we all are to "love our neighbor as ourselves".

To blame these social ills on the police is misplaced. I have said it before and will say it here again: **leaders can lead you only as far as they themselves have gone**.

The people are simple following their leaders in the path of barbarianism which they are leading. You need not look any further than the House of Assembly and the recent report of the $8,000,000.00 under-the-table bribe for the contract to build boats for the Defence Force.

If Members of Parliament can take what they want without consideration - lacking self discipline and restraint - why should the ordinary citizens be any different?.

I am just so ashamed of us as a people (grown professional adults) who seem not to possess or have the discipline and ability to carry out a straight business transaction on behalf of the Bahamian People without f_cken tiefing. And then we complain when members of the 'white race' looks down on us. SHIT!
