That's my point... how can we think and expect to build a country on sinking sand?

Truth is foundation in and of itself and it matters not if this may disturb some. It is there!

The earth's rock is already in place, why build on the sand... Oh foolish men?

Build on the rock so when the storm flood and strong wind arise your building would be able to stand!!! Sunday school 101.

Denying the existence of the rock's foundation won't make it go away.

However, some of us has had personal encounters and personal experiences with the prospective leader which were not very impressive or honorable on his part to say the least.

But, after putting all this aside and sincerely taking an objective position - knowing that my personal grievances ought not to stand in the way of what is best for the overall good of The Bahamas and its people - Dr. Minnis still went on and failed me in what I entrusted to him.

What now shall I do?

Shall I continue to repose my confidence in him?

Please suggest to me something that I, and the Country, can live with since some think that having a proper convention consisting of the election of party officers might be too unbearable as a consequence for Dr. Minnis's failures, or lack of proactive and effective leadership!!!

... but please spear me, the FNMs and The Bahamian people the pain in saying that we all have to live with circumstances as they now stand for the next 2,310 days because of a hurried one (1) day convention result.

Before I commend on the article, it is with pride that I can state an historical fact that bonded me to the friendship of Sir Etienne Dupuch. Ironically, I saw his son, Eugene, today and refreshed his memory on the point. That is, Sir Etienne and my father, Joseph McBain Johnson, fought together in World War I. They served and fought together in the same British regiment. Sir Etienne told me this himself, and that they were lifelong friends.

Notwithstanding the fact that I was a 'newspaper-boy' who sold the Tribune in the evenings, I had the distinct and sincere pleasure of meeting with Sir Etienne back in the late 1980s. Sir Etienne treated me with dignity and utmost respect. He embraced me as one of his own. Sir Etienne expressed how happy he was to meet with the son of his close friend and war time buddy who he and others would call 'Poe Joe' because of his slim features.

Being born out of wedlock, back then, I was researching for information on my paternal connection and history. Sir Etienne was most welcoming and answered my questions happily. He was instrumental in pointing out to me the rich heritage of my family and the fact of Johnson's contribution and their extended family connections throughout the Anglican Church and in Eleuthera. I sincerely thank God for the opportunity and privilege to have met with this Great Bahamian.

By the way, even when Mrs. Carron tried to interrupt our meeting because she must have felt that he was running late and needed to end our meeting, I recalled him dismissing her so that he could give me his full attention. May his soul rest in peace.

Now I quote from the article the date underpinning message, "ON the night of January 23, 1956, a member of the House of Assembly rose to his feet and moved a Resolution asking members to go on record as deploring “discrimination in hotels, theatres and other places in the Colony against persons on account of their race or colour”. Such discrimination, said the Resolution, was “not in the public interest”....

...and yet, persons continue to project to the Bahamian public that the history of The Bahamas began on the 10th of January, 1967, or for their own political agenda, the 10th of July, 1973. These are notable dates that ought to be recognized, however, the social evolution in our history for the better began long before these dates.

As I have continued to say... no amount of story telling, beginning from 1967, can dismantle the facts and contributions of True and Great Bahamians who have made a substantial contribution to the social, political and economic development of The Bahamas. There are persons who factually laid the actual foundation for our democracy. This is the case and it was done irrespective of what anyone may feel or think of their politics, their color or ethnicity. This is eloquently highlighted here in this article and with verifiable evidence and authority. Well done... Tribune.

...and, irrespective of ones' choice (mines or yours)... you and I would then have to go on and work along with the outcome. What is so difficult to understand about that???????

Emac and readers, it is not a matter of being afraid of 'the big bad wolf', which I must state: Mrs. Loretta Butler Turner is not a 'big bad wolf', it is a matter of these men displaying that they are afraid of a democratic process.
If you are afraid of this underpinning principle of the FNM's Constitution, what else you would wish to thwart for your own selfish interest? What would then be your response to this underpinning in Our Constitution, that is, The Constitution of The Bahamas if things don't appear to be aligning with your personal agenda?

I am appalled and hereby express publicly my embarrassment of the behavior, so far, of Dr. Hubert Minnis; and much less, Mr. Pintard of whom I do not hold a moral expectation of him to know, or, expect of him to do any better.
