The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act accords to ex-convicts the expungement of their criminal records after a certain period of time, which is fair, what then is the purpose of this exercise and its committee seeing that there is already a legal mechanism in place to do what they claim to be doing?
**What a state of affairs our judiciary is in heh?** Ms. Gomez was the prosecutor in my trial which actually led to my convictions back in 1998. I spent two years and some in prison. From this whole experience, I realized that I needed to learn and know more about the rules and laws that govern us.
We are in the dark as citizens and those to whom it is entrusted to enlighten the public, are extremely inadequate. Since then I have gone off to law school and graduated, as well as, passed my Bar examination. I won Most Outstanding Student Award from Eugene Dupuch Law School but thrice I was denied being 'called' to the Bar.
To date, noble dreams and aspirations are not allowed to be fulfilled nor pursued in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. I am living the hell right now. **I would have probably been more accepted by the leaders of this Country had I diverted my life to a path of drugs, alcohol, and crime.** No doubt, I would likely have been dead by now and not come to realize the inefficiency of the prosecutor in my case. With this, I praise Mrs. Valaria Pyfrom who also prosecuted but was civilly outstanding in her duties. Today, we and her entire family are close friends.
How badly I wanted to work and serve so as to improve the state of our judiciary? Ah well... I was rejected! But that's the story of life heh? **"the stone that the builders reject...."**
**bravo! bravo!** "what used to be the political ideologies of young men have now evolved into the outdated thinking and practices of old men, a country in dire need of innovative thinking and problem solving can only pray for the best as we continue to weather the storm. ".
In which case, why won't she run for Parliament rather stay on the sidelines with all these "brilliant" ideas? Hindsight gives 20/20 vision... could that be the reason?
My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the family, mother, and brother.
Dear Bahamas, in light of this tragedy - which is too often repeated, I alone, or it seems, am asking the question, "what has become the interests and focus of our youths, their thoughts or the line and extent of their conversations that leads them to this violent threshold of malevolence?".
Inherently, the answer is within the question. However, first, we have got to get rid of these visionless, clueless, discontented and lazy leaders who come under the umbrellas of the Free National Movement (FNM) and the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP)
It is not a matter of "God being mad" to any degree with the planet, it is a matter of us as a country, led by sober and righteous leaders, being in a strategic position so as to be able to navigate and weather the storm of the Coronavirus; similar to Noah being singled out from the rest of the people in his day. Wisdom cannot be destroyed, however, many are denied its access.
We are getting the experience we deserve because we voted in the leaders that are there. Hence, what we are experiencing, is to the extent of their ability to lead. A leader can only take you as far as they themselves have gone.
