we are talking about elementary schools duppyVAT. under international law, a child - illegal or not - has a right to basic education. you cant punish a kid for the actions of its parents. I guess what would help is that the Government allows these kids to be registered through school rather than through their (illegal) parents. If I were an Illegal parent, I would not register my kids, guess what happens if I show up at Immigration Offices?

GrassRoot says...

of course, but your parents were not living in the U.S. as illegals. so apples and oranges?

GrassRoot says...

maybe, but that's not the point. its is called PR (public relations) and in this field all, Fred Extraordinaire and DPM and PGC blew it on the immigration topic. Whatever you are deciding, make sure you sell it well. Don't talk out of your a** unless you know what you are saying and the effects of it, make written press releases. Now the spotlights are on. You better professionalize your approach here, else things will get worse and we can not afford to loose tourists and FDI.

GrassRoot says...

Seems to me that our Fred Extraordinaire blew it. Talk when you should (i.e. to the journalist BEFORE he prints) and don't talk, when you shouldn't. BTW what happened to Spygate? Did Washington ever got back to you on the NSA questions? Maybe PM asked his best new buddy Joe Biden?

it gives you an idea if you look up the CEO's background. It is private equity money - probably out of the UK -. With garbage you can make a lot of money. I do believe that their system works and makes them a lot of money from our garbage. I hope the tipping fee our government pays them is not too extravagant. The question however is, who got paid off this time. I suggest we get ourselves a new AG, one with some integrity.

GrassRoot says...

Sickened, I don't think it matters, as long as this stops us from dumping all kind of garbage into the ocean (particularly car batteries). Recycling is a very lucrative business. If there is a sore spot in all of this, again it is the non disclosure and secrecy surrounding the whole operation. If it goes well, happy days. If it goes sour, well we - again - don't know who to blame.

GrassRoot says...

100% agree and put away with the BSD. It will protect our savings from getting devalued at one day in the near future. It works in Ecuador and Panama just fine.

GrassRoot says...

Perry don't wish for it. you are giving away our future and the one of our kids by begging the Chinese to give you money. You think this is free? Who is going to pay those interest rates? our kids that dont get a good education in exchange for it? You are aiming at the wrong target when you go after the banks. This is just a cheesy and cheap PR stunt to steer the banks into your uneconomic idea of a mortgage relief plan.

GrassRoot says...

well how are the kids supposed to file for paperwork without their parents? It is just a dishonest way the government goes about. If you don't want them say it, scoop them up and send them home. Don't be halfhearted about the kids. The government has to figure out how they want to treat kids that are born in the Bahamas and have no passport.

well you know the answer to that one. if the parents with illegal status file for school permits for their kids, guess what happens. The systems builds on the thought that they will scoop up the parents and then the whole family gets shipped out. This right to apply for citizenship when you are 18 if you are born in the Bahamas is a joke. The ones that will make it to the finish line will in the future not even know how to read or write.
