Clearly the PLP has no interest in being a diverse party with diverse opinions. It is the party's choice. History shows that non-adaption leads to disappearance, you can delay the process but not avoid the unavoidable. The PLP is on its way to become the Party of angry old men, run by angry old men.

You are absolutely right that she can not be responsible for children being abused. However she is in charge to make sure no or at least less children are being abused. that's one of the items why she goes to work every day and gets paid by our VAT dollars. No one is blaming the PLP, we are blaming the Government. Child abuse is not a God given sin, it is something that can be reduced or avoided through active policy by supporting the parents, weeding out the criminals, informing the kids about what's right and wrong and empowering it. You just drag the issue into the bipartisan discussion and try to make it disappear. You help the PLP to cover up its obligation as the Governing party - pretty sad.

I think he should get the contract and do it for free.

Of course the Ruling from the Speaker is non-sense, We don't need another lawyer to tell us that. What the Speaker did goes against anything the constitution and political system intended the PAC to be. It furthermore exposed the Speaker as a puppet of the AG and PGM - so much for separation of powers. I am baffled repeatedly, that the politicians in charge trade the credibility and stability of our political system for short term political gain. These people do not deserve to be given the trust to govern us.

well not even with that money in the bank we were able to pull something decent up. Once a pirate, always a pirate.

yes. yes and yes. look at all the long list of projects and the closing rate, the funding rate, the number of projects that have been successfully executed. If we can count them on one hand, we are lucky and deduct the ones that worked in 1973 and got screwed up thereafter.

“golden opportunity for public service". you don't have to change much around in this sentence to find the true reasons why many politicians are politicians.

I agree. However, there are many corrupt police officers and police officers that through the closely knit family ties in the Bahamas refuse to go after perpetrators they know, either just because or out of fear for their own life or life of their family members. This circle of fear and corruption must be broken. We need outside public prosecutors that have no ties and no exposure in the country and police officers need training and protection and need to be taught how corruption works and what it does to the society.

Well all this is flawed. The only reason why the murder rate is up is because it is properly reported and accounted for by the newspapers, and the only reason why the rates for the other crimes go down is, because the news papers don't account for it. So the lying and cheating goes on. Melanie Griffith just reported that child abuse cases went up 22%. This is all true - statistically speaking of course. The reality is that people are sick and tired to report crimes, simply because nothing happens anyway to the perpetrators. Not a police issue, not a court issue, a leadership issue.
