"caricom’s regional assessments led to a town meeting over a week ago, where despite a lack of representation from the people that oppose marijuana decriminalisation or legalisation, there was still a good turnout, as citizens came out in droves to voice their opinions on the issue." Maybe there was a lack of representation because more people are for legalization than those that are against it.
this is an utter disgrace. the postal service has been bad for a long time- but to come to a complete halt? what kind of country is this? we f up the most obvious things mostly because eadership in this country is pure ass.
Like far too many financial decisions made by successive Bahamian governments- this appears painfully shortsighted. After years of building the event - which I really enjoyed attending, they suddenly cancel it just when it was beginning to pay off? It also reeks of another problem- a lack of continuity between governments. Money and investment down the drain during a weak tourism period.
The government is to blame because they allowed and apparently facilitated the closure of a public road due to private requests. The residents who voted to close the road should also share the blame and the Ministry of Works specifically because it was an incompetent installation- without warnings, lights, bumps, reflectors or signage. If she was just speeding, she would still be here. But she was speeding in conditions that made her chance of life impossible. I hate how politics always get in the way of law and logic in this country. And these comments and the government's silence suggest- here we go again. Is Wayne Munroe the only lawyer people go to?
Mr. Evans- why would you say that Robinson was nursing a grudge? "If there’s a grain of truth to the rumour of him moving on from the FNM, then one is left to assume that Robinson is nursing a grudge against Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis for terminating him from his $45,000 a year parliamentary secretary post in the Ministry of Tourism." That would be incompatible with everything else you said about the young man and its clear that he knew exactly what he was doing and the consequences. The dude just has something to say. I hope our so-called democracy allowed him to say it.
HonestTruth- this is the FIRST thing I thought of when I saw this headline. 80 percent of the force over weight- they are a mirror image of the Bahamas. He is trying to trim the force in more ways than one! lol. But I agree with him 100%. I watched two police chase a thief on Bay Street one day and thought I would have to give the man CPR- he could not keep up- his companion continued the chase but that thief needed to suit up for the olympic team - gone- tourist purse in hand!
If the following statement is true- this is not a democracy and more than that we have a bunch of idiots and sheep in government. No surprise we are in the position we are. Who gets to decide what is "inflammatory or controversial" and in relation to what? "Speaker Moultrie said he must be given at least a day’s notice of an MP’s request to make a special communication to Parliament. Mr Robinson’s letter must contain the “contents of what he will present,” he said, adding: “The contents will then be reviewed and if there isn’t anything inflammatory or controversial in it, it will be approved. If there is something controversial, recommendations will be made to him and once he complies with the recommendations there will be no difficulty allowing him to speak.”
Licks2 is a political ass kisser. Always spouting pure partisan tripe. They used to say the PLP had hired people to debunk sane statements - mostly about them- on sites like this before they were thrown out and apparently the FNM has done the same with Licks 2. Disregard him or her.
