Of course we should legalise weed. We could take it to new heights. Medical marijuana. New baked goods. Land speculation. Andros would be green from top to bottom. But the powers that be - who don't have one good idea to grow the economy - like to hide behind false morality, or maybe they are afraid that it would change the status quo too much. too many weed connoisseurs who don't look like them, getting rich and threatening their power.

And your point? I only see and hear this government. They are responsible for the decisions they make. Is it too much to ask a government to come up with a different response to fiscal crisis than to borrow, borrow, borrow, in a corrupt land with no checks and balances? It doesn't work for individuals and it certainly cant work for a nation.

Proof positive that these guys are jokers. The country is doomed for dumbness from the top down.

We are going to be late again with this one- when we should be innovating in an industry we might actually know something about and might be able to compete effectively in the global marketplace. These fellas are cowards and jokers- The medical and legal fields are two of the most conservative visionless professions I have ever seen and they have led or rather mis-led the Bahamian economy for almost 50 years.

This is a dumb young man. And this is painful for me to say because I want to see more younger people in governance not less. But if this is the best we have- we are doomed. I agree with you Naughty, these words clearly demonstrate that he lacks knowledge upon which to make proper judgements, informed by wisdom, peppered with vision, and emanating from an ethical and moral core. It don't matter if he has 5 or 500, 000 dollars- anyone with a moral core knows that if some one is going to steal it matters little how much they have- the greedy blood sucker will still think they deserve more, or what you have and more. For the FNM to suggest otherwise, or that ministers who in most cases know very little about their ministries should be the highest paid public servant in said ministry is ludicrous. but more than that to send this fella out to promote this kind of BS is not only disgraceful but dangerous and does not bode well for the future. Why exactly is the FNM complaining about the PLP then? They are providing an explanation for the PLP's corruption. They were corrupt because they weren't being paid enough! To make matters worse, this young man has no clue and has not taken the time to learn. $28,000 is not a janitors pay-Maybe the salary of two janitors and an aide in the public service. But more than that he insults many who voted for him. Plenty janitresses in Bain Town. Even nurses only get $20,000 out of college and I will take a nurse as a necessary public servant over a politician any day. If he is like Jerry Roker in Bain Town already- he needs to be impeached. Everyday the FNM proves the point- if you only run against the record of the one you wish to defeat, when the emotion clears, people will realize that you had no plan to make things better, but merely the desire for the power to do the same.

I had high hopes for Mr. Dames but he has revealed himself this week to be morally and ethically suspect and in this case a decidedly unwise or perhaps compromised man. I remember watching him perform as Pearlie Victorious in a government high school production back in the day and he was very good. He needs to call up those acting chops from yester year and do better. Because his performance in government so far leaves much to be desired. No script for this performance though and its beginning to look as if without one, there isn't much going on upstairs in the Dames brain. People fool ya all the time, but it never lasts.
