This is a sad and strange story. Every aspect of it reeks of incompetence on both sides with a veneer of political payback, and the drama that another complaining lawyer was/is apparently known for. That promotions take so long when public servants are already poorly paid, contributes to the lack of morale in the public service, the lack of workable systems, the low level of competence and the extremely poor quality of service provided. Add the possibility of political victimization to that mess and the sheet gatta blow - every five years or so. This is right on schedule.
you almost had me convinced that you were serious until that last line. Brave and Glenys are not viable national candidates for similar and also different reasons. 1. piss poor performance as leaders in their respective cabinet posts and the continued decline of their constituencies. i would guess that neither one can offer ten good ideas to transform the Bahamas. 2. Davis will never outrun the taint of corruption. He is a poor public speaker, can't motivate a snail and has a complete inability to sincerely communicate empathy. 3. Hanna has been in public service for a long time and cannot point to a single thing she has spearheaded. if its as you say - her holding onto the incompetent Wilchombe doesnt say much for her judgement. but what has always disappointed me with her and perhaps its just the nature of our poltics has been her willingness to publicly defend the indefensible when it comes to her party. that she and Davis are the only ones vying for party leader guarentees the PLP will remain in the political for at least the next 9.5 years.
I have been to Haiti a few times. I have had good experiences there but one of the things that always strikes me is how few pregnant women I see there. They are not dumb people. They have children when and where they want to have them - in the Bahamas.
Why are we so incompetent in the Bahamas? Why can't we seem to manage and maintain anything, any SYSTEM effectively? Why are we so intent on being mediocre? We can sit back and judge but too few know how to manage and lead. Flicking band width? The flicking government of the Bahamas can't solve a problem with band width in 2017? Are you flickin kidding me? GTFOH. Not casting blame on the new admin- but get this country's sheet together. Governance in this country too often looks like clowns in a circus.
We have a right to question the practices and possibility of corruption under EVERY administration. In my experience in the pubic service, it exists under both parties - though the last admin took it to new heights. It needs to be recognized and rooted out completely.
Didn't Minister Bannister just indicate yesterday that they would reduce the staff by 30%? How does that translate in terms of numbers? 200 or so? No news here except to see that they are following BPL's script.
Are you serious? Get outta here with this BS. No one asked them to serve and they knew the salary. If they can't be fiscally responsible for themselves- how can we expect them to lead the country out of financial ruin? This is why we are in the position we are in now- Though this reporting is one sided and reeks of bias- the ones named are a disgrace.
