Though I historically regard Turks Islanders as Bahamians, politically they aren't. From the reports I've read, he is a Turks Islander who spends plenty time in Freeport but that don't make him Bahamian.
Incompetence is the correct word. Incompetent with no shame or consequences. The impact of BEC/BPL on the country's economy has been catastrophic over the past 40 years- lost income and subsequent loss of jobs, burned out wires and appliances etc. Just imagine if Bahamar had come on stream. They haven't prepared for that huge hog of electrical resources either and they have had the time to do so. If you think its bad now wait until that monster has to be fully powered,
Carl Bethel? Good Lord. Why do Bahamians who go into politics think of it as a life time career? Bethel needs to sit his azz down and keep Foulkes and Turnquest the younger (s)- home with him. It is incredible how these guys become so regular without the boost of a blue plate. Their wanting to reenter the arena has nothing to do with Bahamas and service to it and everything to do with fragile egos and a sense of self importance.
Proudloudandfnm, it is obvious that these papers call a few people when they need copy. The Tribune calls Tennyson Wells, George Smith, Frank Watson, Bran McCartney and even Leslie Miller and the Guardian calls Loftus Roker, Dionisio D'Aguilar, Bran McCartney and a few others. Tenny sells papers or at least pisses enough people off to comment. Win win for the trib.
Yeah - but we can say that about almost everyone running- looking for a job or more than likely an extra meal ticket. He made some good points- whether the FNM or any of the bumbling power hungry third and fourth party leaders who all claim democracy but don't want to concede leadership in any so called coalition election admit it or not.
Grassroot you are a thousand percent right about the public education system in this country. if you saw the education statistics you would cry. plenty government school teachers need to shape up or ship out because they are putting a bunch of illiterates out in the streets each year- with no chance of competing in the real "the bills got to be paid" world
I agree that most people who enter politics are looking to get paid. That is what we have allowed. If we check the income of politicans before and five years later most would be unable to account for their vast improvement. I mean these folks out perform stock markets by two thousand percent and expect no one to notice. There is no interest in the Bahamas or Bahamians for the majority of politicians. They are self serving narcissists who would steal Jesus's loincloth off the cross if they felt they needed it. And reason it away. It is all about them. And that is why we are in the fix we are in.
