Minnis could not have done any better. Lets remember that BOTH entities are private concerns. The Bahamian government is not in possession of a single job to give, outside of the bloated and inefficient public service. The quicker we realize this the better. The role of government is to facilitate investment in the Bahamas in the best interest of Bahamians. Hopefully they will soon understand that this mandate includes in real and productive ways, investments by Bahamians in the Bahamas and elsewhere.

We all know 75-80 percent of births in the Bahamas come from unwed mothers- been that way for a long time. But if we were to do a statistical study my guess is the percentage of bad azz children coming from that group and from the two parent group wouldn't be much different- though the raw numbers for the single mamas would be higher. Some of the worse criminals and worse crimes committed in the Bahamas came from two parent households- who took them on vacations and sent them to private school, but sometimes where headed by fathers who beat their wives and molested their children. We need to stop this fake respectability politics. Some of our most prominent citizens and brightest minds including a prime minister were born to single mothers. Rather than stereotyping, maybe politicians need to have some conversations with these women having 10 and 11 children for different men (please try not to become the father of number 11 or 12 as you sympathize) to try and understand where they are coming from, persecute the men and counsel the boys getting 12 year olds pregnant. How can the Bahamian government give the same group free reign for the redevelopment of downtown Nassau - historic Nassau - after capable Bahamians have put forward wonderful proposals over the years only to watch them gather dust? I am not against change but the Pointe has ZERO architectural appeal - Just as bad as Flowers office building in that regard. but I guess its new and we sure like 'new tings' Hopefully will be well maintained.
