Where is their competition? The service is absolutely horrible. And that new package is garbage. They should be made to include abc,cbs and nbc, tnt, tbs and wgn. IMO JCN isnt a real network.

I know its only for a day but three things....

1. Enact a constitutional change, making all Bahamians equal citizens, with equal rights under the laws of the Bahamas. Host educational forums on gender equality, human rights, religion and misogyny.

2. Organize a better contract statement for any potential oil production in the Bahamas and ensure that
a. Bahamians are trained and employed at all levels of the oil business. Within five years 50% of workers should be Bahamian.
b. All profits are directed to a national wealth fund designed as a national endowment to support our currency and a percentage used for innovative use of materials and design to improve the welfare of the country
i. Innovative hospital care
ii. Innovative education options, especially for children with learning difficulties- too many of our chirren
iii. Innovative four tier prison system designed for reform, manufacturing and education

Education:
a. Dissolve the current College of the Bahamas as an entity, ridding it of the chokehold of its union and reorganize it as a true university dedicated to critical thinking, scholarship and research.
i. Reorganize the Education BA at the College and weed out students grandfathered through that system who are unfit to teach in the Public School System

b. Order an Immediate assessment of the reading and arithmetic levels of all Bahamian school children and teachers conducted by world renown education specialists in concert with Bahamian educators with proven track records. Sorry, a piece of paper matters little to me. It is what you have done most that matters and what ideas you have- no matter where you are

c. Hire world renown educators with proven success to reorganize the educational system for children and young adults at all levels and including education for special needs children- blind, deaf, downs syndrome, autism etc. Too many of the children needing the services cannot afford it in the country and the expensive services provided are suspect. Work in concert with Bahamians with proven track records. I am not interested in hiring Bahamians just because they are Bahamians if they have no ideas and will stymie the process. We don’t have time for hurt feelings. If you can do the job, you will be brought into the process.

d. Implement a new kind of schooling for those who come late to the realization that they should have paid attention in school focused on young men and women not (yet) able to attend college age 18-25.

e. Establish centers for drug abusers in the school system

f. Make Bahamian history a fundamental part of the curriculum.

You clearly don't understand Obama care. Talk what you know and not what you hear- it bears no comparison to this. This is good in theory, but unfortunately- as is already obvious, bad in execution. Sad.

Wherever he has been quietly sitting these past months, he needs to return ASAP. This is the dumbest, most retrograde, cave man thinking I have seen in the past 24 hours. Please shut up and go away Mr. Miller. The work of the Crisis Centre is undervalued in this country, and poorly funded, but those who have had cause to call upon them, work with them and for them understand the necessity of this space- that serves not only women, but also men. Add some zeros to that check, make sure it clears and hope they accept you for some training and community service. I think all ministers should volunteer a few hours a week at a social service ngo or other organization in the Bahamas.

People, stop the facile and ignorant white/black crap. White does not ensure competence and black does not mean incompetence, that is a profoundly ignorant statement. Baystreet is owned by white people and you see how that looks- And I come from a good stock of competent, moral and highly accomplished negroes. Lets insist on reasonable, competent and incorruptible people rather than this drivel of racial determination. Living in the east is a difficult because of the frequent blackouts. I have lived there for ten years and have been in a battle with BEC to save appliances and electronics because of frequent brownouts and blackouts. system was supposed to be fixed several years ago but as we see an eastender- a fox hillian no doubt- sold us down the river with his unnamed comrades. Didnt even have the sense to have them used the bad generators in a another part of town.

the poor are exploited in this country by governments and politicians and by the private sector and every evil drug dealer and gang leader out there. Who will be most affected by the usury of $10 bank fees- those too poor to maintain a bank account. Who is most affected by VAT? the poor for whom the cost of living increased while the chance of living decreased. Who benefits more from VAT tax rather than income tax? the wealthy- who then are absolved of their societal responsibility to be mindful of the well being of those in more challenging circumstances. Who are most affected by an inept educational system and poor social structures? the poor who can't afford QC if RM isnt working out. Who cant afford remedial classes if their children need a little extra help. And who because hurt people hurt, continue the cycle of violence against each other in so many different ways it is truly mind blowing. And then of course there are the people of means who exploit the poor for their nefarious desires, sex from young men and women, putting hits out on perceived enemies, wives and husbands, low wages and exploitative work environments. We talk a lot about absent fathers but I am sure I am not the only one who notice how many father and son teams are in business together and getting arrested and or killed. The presence of a father isnt enough- what values are being instilled in these young men? From the dead faces above, with drug addled minds, probably learning disabilities and no-one who truly gives a shit about them- including their gang - And sadly perhaps - not even their mothers- we are on a slow decent to hell unless we step up. Every time I see a young directionless, overwhelmed too young woman cursing out and beating on their children in public, you just want to scoop up the children and take them to safety- but they would probably resist you- because they want the love and attention from their mothers and fathers first, and they don't even realize it may never come from there until its too late. You can see by the nick names for these thugs- and yes despite of the reasons- that is what they have become- a menace to society- that they are living in a fantasy world. Complete zombies. Lets get these hitters, shottas, thugs, whatever you want to call them off the streets- but lets also work on stemming the tide of self destruction that gave birth to them.

The Chief of Police, and the Minister of National Security need to resign immediately. Nice men but unable to do their jobs. I don't care why- they need to go. Our problem is three fold: 1. Poor poor parenting- we are 'raising' some dumb ass, socially maladjusted, lazy chirren who respect nothing including life, smoke too much dope and are weak minded enough to join gangs 2. We have a poor police system whose members are too small a number and too many in that small number are not very good policemen and women. The RBPF's refusal to hire people who have not come up in the system is also a problem- Because what you get in terms of thinking is severely limited 3.Lawyers who game the system for their vile clients. Yes there are a few innocents- but in my experience- very few.

This has very little to do with his veteran status, whether his child, grandchild, great grand child or puppy has the money to fix the house- because the answer to that is both painfully obvious and irrelevant- and everything to do with Urban Renewal starting a job and not finishing it. Wanna bet whether or not the contractor was paid for repairs completed on this house? Disgraceful.
