I am amazed by the attitude of some of these vendors who claim they have no ability to pay, so should not be made to pay. Are you kidding me? The govt has no obligation to allow persons to make a repayment plan. None whatsoever. That they are doing so is a bonus. The culture that has been bred in the Bahamas is one where politicians have over the years allowed this type of nonsense for political expediency and popular support. If I don't pay my bills I am faced with the consequences. Am I then to claim that my creditors have no right to require me to pay? Hilarious! Pay up or leave! End of story!

I am totally baffled at how biased this TalRussell person is! Totally baffled! I liken him to Peter Carey, another BLIND and BIASED political follower, but for the FNM. As a Bahamian voter, I expect that those elected officials who make promises to the electorate would fulfill them. It is ridiculous to require struggling, unemployed Bahamians who can barely put food on the table to be able to provide verifiable and documented proof of sustainable income to save their homes! The point is they have no income, they have no jobs. For instance, City Markets was able to close down and sell without paying the staff a single penny now the government is gonna turn around and tell those affected persons that in order to get assistance to save their homes they need verifiable and sustainable income??? Are you kidding me? This has to be some kind of sick joke. As the country goes through one of the most difficult recession in recent years we have people like TalRussell who want to play politics and the blame game while the people perish. If the PLP wanted to sit idly by and blame the FNM then they ought not have entered the race. My personal opinion is to FIRE all of these politicians and regardless of the party and elect people who actually give a damn and have the fortitude to get the job done and the county back on track!

I have read the proposed amendments and I was blown away. My gripe does not arise because of the mandatory lunch hour, because the proposed amendment allows an employee and employer to agree to specific terms. They can negotiate. Where I was knocked off my chair is the requirement to give each employee a fixed day off and the payment of double time if they are required to work on that day. That would throw a spoke in the wheel of many businesses, especially those with rotating shifts and schedules. Many of the provisions of the proposed amendments seem to be fair to me...but one or two push the wagon way too far.

If it is too graphic then don't watch it. I decided that a video depicting the fatal stabbing of another is far too graphic for my liking. My wife decided that she wants to watch it. Freedom of choice. The family member also has the choice of watching it or not. It doesn't play automatically. If you want to watch it then do so. If not then move on to the next story!

Please educate us. How does the government earn revenue from bail applicants? I'm confused.

I often wonder if TalRussell is serious about the betterment of this country, or whether his singular role is to spur rubbish in defense of his political organization. In most civilized countries (particularly the USA who we seem to want to model after) parents are civilly responsible for the actions of their children. In fact, if negligence, obstruction, perjury, or abetment is determined then the parents may be criminally responsible as well. I totally support Mr. McCartney's position that parents ought to be made responsible for the actions of their children. If you find that your child is uncontrollable, then make application to the authorities for assistance and release the unruly and uncontrollable child into the custody of the state, so that attempts can be made to reform the child before he/she grows into a criminal adult. The reality is we are raising a generation of young persons who have no regard for order, authority and the rule of law, while their parents defend their "good child". Some level of culpability should be had by parents who are unwilling or unable to control these kids who want to wreak havoc on society at the expense of us all.
