Let the ppl vote for the historically and documented corrupt thieves in plp and their leader the official gangsta lawyer of the bahamas. I'm sure their governance plan involves: handing out lots of money and employing the whole country as civil servants, believing in bahamians, a gold rush to prosperity or whatever nonsense the masses desires to hear Or he has the DNA - the clampetts of Bahamian politics. Unfortunately, most of us are living in the past and romantising the Bahamas of 80s and 90s - refusing to accept that the world has changed. However, i blame successive govts for pandering and not preparing people
Why does one have to be a Minnis supporter to not need someone to make law preventing me from traveling to Florida to know that Florida isn’t a safe place to be and not go ? Why is posing the question ‘what are you going to Florida for’ mean someone is blaming Bahamians for a spike covid and not posing a reasonable query when everyone knows Florida is a hotspot?
Cognitive dissonance, maybe daddy issues... they say minnis and daguilar dumb for allowing us to travel. Yet, we bear no responsibility for going to baeleria and bahamasair, buying the ticket, packing our bags, getting a good night rest before we travel and then making our way down to the port of departure, lets not forget as their is no pre clearance at the moment you knew u would have to stand in some border control area with a bunch of ppl on arrival, and that did not deter you. But, i agree that never should have allowed bahamians to return without a test just because they were not there for more than 72 hours. Then go back to work, to jam up in the pool by pelican bay, to attend funerals. Hey, like the opposition says this govt has no reason to deny us our civil liberties. So we'll eat and drink for the next two weeks then demand hypertension meds and be back to our usually selves.
P.s if you look at threads on other sites, Bahamians seemed very concerned about the financial pressures they are feeling, to the point that they saying “they may be alive but broke” or unable to support themselves.
Well Chester Cooper just put out a statement expressing his disappointment that Sandals Emerald Bay has decided to close since commerical flights have stopped. So, i suppose exumians felt like the country should be open.
Why is that all talk? It is a legitimate concern to have thousands of ppl, who have no viable skills out of work for how long, a year, a few more months. We have seen the collateral effects of ppl being out of work for three to four months with no savings, rent isnt paid, mortgages stop being paid, we cussing cause social services "line is to long and bahamians shouldnt have to stand in line". It seems like the typically contrarian to say the economy wont come back with the few tourists, what does that mean, everyone knows the economy is not a switch to flip on and off. Have you considered that maybe in nassau, the big empty hotels certainly wont be fillled, in there it would probably be a disaster waiting to happen, but elsewhere, smaller boutique ventures around the country are able to safelt open and employ ppl and manage the risk. Life isnt back to normal, but the obligations of life have not changed. So unless you are going to be the guinea pig for a vaccine i think the reality is everyone has to exercise reasonable judgment, common sense, for the foreseeable future.
Well before we even arrive at that discussion there was a locked gate, a sign that said the beach is closed and a video recording of them indicating that they could read and understood that the beach was closed. Let little only black me go to boston hoping locked gates on camera.
