" they also deserve a certain level of criticism for the careless way in which they disregarded the immediate concerns of the people."------> Yup!

" Furthermore, no matter the disagreement, job opportunities should always go to your fellow countryman rather than a foreigner " ------> preaching to the choir here!

"The FNM is the entire reason why the PLP was voted back into power. They were just down right offensive" --------> agree 100%, looks like we on the same page brother.

Dilema is right....

Payroll tax is not the way to go. That way the rich definately don't pay their share. Franky W, Brent and all others with business will just forgo any salary and cut themselves a fat dividend at the end of the year.
Otherside is the admin cost of VAT which will burden local business and hamper re-investment and new hirings. Also not the best...

everyone would like to see govt collect arrears but you try tell Leslie or Tiger they need to pay their real estate taxes. OOps sorry, no more contributions for your war chest. een happnin..

But still, i'm also tired of some corrupt customs orificer sayin "look here, I ga work wid u!"

wtf....

hhmm jury still out on this one. I like her better than Minnis 'The Muppet'. Minnis just always says what he thinks people want to here. She at least sticks to her guns. (and boy dey be some big guns! ;)

Agreed with above that both sides always shovel the same crap down our throats and we must have aquired a taste cuz we lick it up everytime.

Response to Oracle, I think for the most part Sol did a great job. PI was a money pit and Merv lost his shirt bad but Sol tunred it around. I can't see a negative in that. (whoever wants to claim responsibilty!). ps. Pool attendants still make 60k+ a year.
I hate dealing with Cable Bahamas but they are listed so any Bahamian can buy shares and I don't know of any other Bahamian company making acquistions in the States (open to correction here).
Now for the roads and the Agrentinians. Agree 100%. Any Argentinian I've dealt with has been an agressive, lyin, cheatin sob. People forget though that the cost over runs had a lot to do with the stalled work when they dug up the old roads and found 10'000+ homes that had been hotwired into the grid and were stealing electricity!!

But ALSO no one wanted to give the work to Hot Mix (a Bahamian Company!) because the ex-DPM's son had an interest. Yeah but let's blame Loretta...

very well put and agreed.

this same woman Chavaz (don't sound bahamian to me!) lives in Sandyport.
sip sip sayin her boy was bein a bully at the school and got called out on it. So chavaz turn it around and called poor mouth black woman.
She lives with a fella that has SEVEN kids at the school (including her own).
Now you think this aint an issue at home and maybe there's an unhealthy enviroment?
No wonder the boy got issues..
but instead of concentrating and trying to help the boy this woman wants to mess up what i understand is a good school. Lord only there aint too many on this island.
If it wasn't for the children i tell her 'carry ya stink ass!'

"Gimme more money so I don't have to steal from you! "

this man is beyond disgusting.

so PGC is also trying to cover up saying he was 'trying to help the bank recoup its losses and not to help Lightbourne.'...

talk about foot and mouth, this man is the biggest muppet ever.

You'd think the minister of finance would be more concerned about the Treasury and his duties to the people he is supposed to serve, rather than the profits of foreign bank!!

Hogfish says...

“There’s really nothing I hate more than Bahamians saying foreigners are taking over our land. We have exactly the same opportunities they do, and we don’t act. .” -
- this guy is kidding right?.

Not sure I know many Bahamians with 1 million in cash to throw down on a condo. Or even 1/2 mil on a 2 bedroom...

BUT More to the point, foreigners (Americans and Europeans alike) have been able to get mortgages and financing around 3.5+% for more than a decade (from their own country or even locally in USD) but Bahamians have been humped with rates at 8% or more! Now how is that the same opportunity?

What about the Boat!!?
$50k is a joke.
they need to confiscate the boat (and dinghys!) and sell them! then grant the RBDF crew that was involved a bounty reward. That would offer an incentive to do the right thing instead of sometimes turning a blind eye.
