If ever the world needed a strong America it is today. Unfortunately the country is being led by a delusional narcissist. Some people mistake his bullying, forceful nature as representing strength but in fact it is just the opposite. A good leader understands his limitations, surrounds himself with the best qualified people and understands the importance of maintaining good relations with his allies. Trump has trashed America's reputation across the world. The country that took us to the moon can't co-ordinate a battle plan to defeat a virus because it has a "leader" that is only interested in strategies that support his re-election. China, Russia, North Korea and Turkey are running rings around Trump and Republicans are shamefully allowing it to happen. Trump is no strong leader. He is an "emperor without clothes". In a few months time Trump's four year term will come to an end and, in years to come, America will look back on Donald Trump's presidency as the joke that went too far.
Trump was voted in as President because people could not tolerate the idea of Hilary Clinton leading the country. Joe Biden will win the November election because the American public will not stand for another four years of this narcissistic egomaniac Trump. America can recover with new leadership but can you imagine what will be left of America if Trump is given another 4 years unrestrained by the need to seek re-election? America and the free world deserves better than Donald Trump. To China and Russia, he represents the gift that keeps on giving.
If you don't have the skill set to be comfortable thinking on your feet and answering legitimate questions from journalists (the people's mouthpiece) then don't put yourself forward to be Prime Minister.
Tourist income over the next three months will be modest and so why expose the country to COVID for such a low return? Is this an experiment? If so it's a darn risky one.
Opening up our borders as early as 1st July is a huge risk relative to the potential gain. The major hotels are not opening up until much later and so why put our citizens at risk unnecessarily? I believe the Cayman Islands are not opening up until September. We can see from our TV screens that the USA is a COVID disaster zone right now and Florida is one of the worst affected states. So again, why are we rushing to accommodate US tourists at this time? I know managing this crisis is a huge challenge for government and people without jobs are hurting. However, the country will be in a much worse state if infections take hold, our hospitals become overwhelmed and we have to shut down all over again. So I say, let America get its act together first then open up to their tourists. We would be better off suffering another few months of pain than having to go through the whole lockdown process all over again and end up being blacklisted as an unsafe holiday destination.
It is much too early to talk about next year being a "banner year". More likely three years before we achieve pre-Covid tourist numbers and that prediction still contains an element of optimism.

SP - your post is much too sensible and will go right over the heads of this administration. Opening up to US tourists at this time is beyond madness.
