I heard that Blocbuster franchises are a real deal now and that renting VHS tapes is the new thing. Seriously, lets just go with old tech in the new world, that will be our best path forward onward upward into the end of the world as we know it. We gubmint smaaarrt bey...And to think Tennyson Wells thought long line fishing was a good idea..."RIP'' bro
it should have occurred to these clowns years ago that we weren't properly prepared for a hurricane. The government does the same dance every time they are caught with their pants down. I'm not expecting anything to be any different when the next storm hits. The Bahamian government has failed miserably far too many times for me to have even a hint of confidence in them now....please prove to me that you have finally learned, please prove me wrong.
and what exactly is the law regarding "Haitians" born in The Bahamas ? I'm pretty sure there is no law. The Bahamas is going to have a large "Haitian" population forevermore. Y'all can stop shouting now and get on with life. There are bigger fish to fry.
Ingraham and Christie had years and years to build NEMA into a properly organized and well trained organization, but did they? Obviously not. Will MInnis retrain the entire organization so that during the next hurricane they can wow the survivors? Doubt it. Never a lesson learned it seems. Island life bey, we ain' checkin'
Ingraham's and Christies lack of planning and lack of proper leadership have put us where we are today. In the wake of every single hurricane there is mass confusion in the ranks of government employees. Plane loads of supplies being denied entry because of confusion on duties. Bahamas Air charging $75 because of a lack of training on disaster response. The previous governments are a complete failure and Minnis has a golden opportunity here. Slow start? ok. but moving forward if Minnis can orchestrate an orderly recovery with much improved ease of doing business, zero confusion and hassle to get building supplies in, real help from the government. People will forget the slow start, but sadly, My prediction is that Minnis and his gang will bungle along and we Bahamas gov gonna be just as frigged up as before
I hate to be skeptical, but I am not going to believe the words of government until I see it in action. And it must be seen over and over again. Basically, barges of materials need to be allowed to sail from departure port to recipient with no government intervention. No stopping in West End ''to clear customs" they need to open the borders basically. Some will say that is going too far. In my 50+ years I have heard government make hundreds of promises and have witnessed precious few actual follow throughs. My prediction is that there will be mass frustration by the civilian population, the government will not let go of control. The local government boards will still be limited to naming streets in their town while Nassau decides the rest. Prove me wrong Minnis, prove me wrong. Please prove me wrong.
