Sounds fantastic.....for New Providence motorists. Perhaps the ministry should take some action on the dune road on Elbow Cay, Abaco, that was destroyed almost 19 years ago in hurricane Floyd. This was mentioned in James Albury's contribution to the budget debate. Nineteen years is a long time. Never mind the massive amount of tax dollars enjoyed by the government that is produced by Elbow Cay; that's a whole 'nother story.
Don't like the legislation that is associated with your business? Close down and enter a new industry. It's very simple. This is the one thing the government has suggested that makes sense. Now we need FOIA, equal rights for women, etc etc.....all the stuff they promised and more
They refuse to look at something like the legalization of cannabis which would increase revenue and create jobs; they're simply closed minded to that idea. Yet states in the US are scrambling to legalize now that they see the enormous tax created by it and that there is no accompanying doomsday crime wave. Never mind that The Bahamas doesn't have the infrastructure to support the necessary legislation, that's another point. The government's thinking is outdated, whether it's cannabis, women's rights or whatever, the government seems to be very much backward thinking. #sad
It's not a question of "holding Bahamians in high regard"; it's The Bahamas. And he is right, the country is a disaster, held back in time and education levels by the government since oh, 1967 or so. Too much focus on people drinking and twerking at political rallies and not enough focus on raising an educated and respectful generation and a commitment to staying on pace with global modernization. The government has failed us and the cows are coming home in bigger and bigger numbers.
You're both wrong........a D- average will not cut it. LOP failed the people when he "Bahamianized" the teachers in this country......we have raised more than a generation of sub standard students since then. Almost every business in The Bahamas is faced with this difficulty. It will not get better for 20 years, and that would be a best case scenario.
of course you can find articles, written in a negative light, by those who oppose the "evil weed". The governor and other high ranking Colorado politicians are still onboard; and I would have to imagine they are pretty well informed and they are the ones there, up close and personal; you and I aren't. The governor was originally opposed to it, but after seeing it in practice, admitted he was wrong and changed his stance.
