Without tourism how does the Bahamas survive......it doesn't. Remove illegal immigrants to free up jobs and get people back to work and off the streets doing senseless stuff. Support and tip the police to trouble and work together.
I read a story once where a Haitian fellow came to the Bahamas and settled down with Bahamian girl and they had children together and a couple years later immigration caught up to him at a check point. They were going to deport him but he is the provider financially to the family working.......... So if he is deported what does the family live on for finances? Tough sitiation. His fault for sure.
Remove illegal immigrants who should not be taking up the jobs and that would vacate jobs for the locals and put people back to work so they can earn a living instead of having to sell drugs, steal or those types of things just to buy food.
I toured Long island with a realtor a couple of years ago, no crime there but Nassau is bursting at the seams, Freeport too and Eleuthera on the way and eventually it will spread to southern islands. No way I want to be holding land in a place where people dont want to go. Start with deportations and then rely on public tips and once the public and the police work together it can only get better. Lets hope.
Bahamas spends ALLOT of money housing criminals, if crime was less there would be more money for government to take care of other things, more tourists, more jobs, more more more. It does not matter which political party is in control they all have the same number one problem, crime.
This just makes me scratch my head, Bahamas already has a global reputation for crime and murder making potential visitors think twice about spending their tourism dollar in the Bahamas. ANY additional taxes will be the deal breaker when considering a vacation and send people to the next closest place and that is TCI. If TCI can control crime and murder and not let it get to Bahamas levels they will win big and tourists WILL pay extra taxes to go there. There is already a reputation problem slowing tourism, now lets add a tax???? Create income for the country without raising taxes.
Bahamianpride, is it your very own fellow Bahamian to blame instead of the leaders? The fellow Bahamian, commiting crimes that are depleting financial resources with more police needed, court systems, housing them in jail, crimes chasing away business and tourism......... Crime and illegal immigrants are to blame more than the politician. Everyone is accountable, look at your neighbours ground level, not upwards to the leaders.
Start by giving Crowley one last contract.............returning all the illegals to their home islands, one long trip with a stop at each country........and like magic many jobs open up that were being done by non-Bahamians!
So what does the Bahamas picture look like 5 years from now?
Crime and taxes chasing away businesses and tourists. Ten years from now i think it will be a common thing heard around town "remember when the tourists........." or "remember jobs we had at..........." or "When I got robbed......" Bahamas is a cool place that needs some help.
