I’m sure you wasn’t including me in The Bahamians that you called ignorant, especially since I have so strongly evoked your emotions on what is happening with Russia and the former Soviet Union. never yet did I say that because most Ukrainians speak Russian does it justify the invasion by a former sister state, Russia. It was a point of reference as many do not know the history of the relationship of Russia and Ukraine. And it is not a matter of the UK wanting ‘us’ back but many certainly do want this piece of Real Estate called The Bahamas And so they make it nearly impossible for indigenous Bahamians to live here, day after day As the value of The Bahamas increase, bahamian ownership decreases. And O, many Africans still do not speak English, but does that stop the pirates from the East and West from going in staging civil wars and carting off loot from the motherland? Stay woke (or ignorant)! It’s all about the dollar ( or the ruble)

Do you know that 70 percent of the Ukraine people speak Russian? Why? Because the Ukraine was once a part of the Soviet Union which was also under the control of Russia. Along with several other , now independent, states that borders Russia. So the invasion of the Ukraine by Russia is not like Cuba invading The Bahamas, but more like the PM sending the defense force to Abaco to stop them joining the US. Once the Ukraine joins NATO and other organizations, this would isolate Russia and make it impossible to re-establish the Soviet Union. The policy of NATO is ‘touch one, touch all.’ Rather than Russia being an evil bully, it just may be fighting for its own survival. When they invaded Africa to rape it if it’s people for slaves and of its natural resources of diamonds, oil etc., it described the Africans as wild and violent savages. The Ukraine has vast natural resources and products they produce.

The US has started relaxing it’s vaccine requirement laws for some businesses. Is this the end of Covid-19? Mass events such as the super bowl was held with no major outbreaks. The only significant difference was persons were required to wear mask.

During the pandemic lockdown, oil companies were giving away gas basically because they had no where to store it. Has across the United States was basically 99 cents a gallon, compared to $3.00 not. It was around $3.00 here, compared to $5.25 now. The point is cut back on your gas consumption by 30 percent. The oil companies still have to produce gas to stay in business. And if they see a declining consumption. They will reduce the price, regardless.

Beware this marital rape agenda is being advanced by a small group of mostly shaved and/or bleached haired women with hyphenated names. This law will affect less than 2 percent of married women and less than 2% married spouses. So they want to take a marital issue and criminalize it. Rather then just dissolving the marriage, they seek to send the spouse to jail. Ok so introduce marital rape but also make a crime for spouses to refuse to submit over a given period of time. And also make it punishable by jail time.

Obviously you confusing ‘wage increase’ with ‘minimum wage.’ The minimum wage is the minimum amount a person is allowed to be paid when he/she enters the job market. And although the minimum wage may not have increased in a number of years, there have been wage increases. Part of the problem in The Bahamad is there is not enough industry to hire different levels of line staff and managers so most jobs still pay close to or affected by minimum wage. And there are many small businesses whose payroll is their major expense so a significant increase in payroll can determine the fate of those businesses. A minimum wage increase may be imminent, but a reduction on the cost of living will be more effective.

After two more years of PLP governance, these guys will look like Minnis did five years ago. So far Davis has been able to steer the ship and keep the SS PLP on course, But mutiny is afoot. Firstly from the non-submitting married women who are getting more aggressive with their demands that Davis pass the marriage rape law. This will impact less than 1 percent of married spouses in the country and mostly those with ulterior motives, then there is the minimum wage bill, which too, will be divisive. First is now the right time? How many businesses can afford an increase and by how much? Should the increase be phased in like was done the last time? Will a minimum wage increase lead to more inflation and unemployment? Then there are the workers who say they were promised a minimum wage increase and they want it. Never mind the impact on inflation or unemployment they just want to see more &$ in their paychecks. Then there’s the marijuana bill that will definitely lead to greater separation of Church and state. But the bill cannot be left lingering for another five years. A lot has to be ironed out. Will the PLP or FNM oligarchs hog up all the licenses and permits to grow and distribute? And those who have criminal records for small amounts of marijuana. Will some amounts of recreational marijuana be legalized o decriminalized? Is The Bahamas already behind the rest of the region and even the USA? What impact will marijuana legislation have on crime and gang activity?

The country cannot afford to allow these resorts to dictate how the Covid restrictions are managed. It is easily verifiable that many Covid cases come out of the hotels and cruise ships. Not because of relaxed Covid restrictions but because the guests who frequent these facilities come from all over the world and may have different strains of the virus or may be in various stages of recovery. And the resort managers must be aware that whatever restrictions are relaxed for them must be relaxed for the entire community. And the health minister dems not ready for carnival or concerts. So give it a few more weeks.

When a high ranking official is put on administrative leave the action suggests some wrong doing, if not corruption. And, of course, there have always being talks of the ‘untouchables’ on the customs list that import goods and do not follow the normal channel to have their goods cleared. They are hardly ever examined and the general talk is even if an officer attempts to carry out his duties, his efforts are thwarted with a simple phone call or text. As one officer explained it, ‘The problems are many. Containers come in with goods valuing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Then you have an officer making just a small fraction of the duty that is to be collected on these containers. So when the opportunity presents itself, what will most officers do?’ And some believe the problem is even greater than that levy of officers. Organized corruption by ‘the higher ups.’ One importer of a certain product says he is the agent/distributor for certain brands of products. But more than half the product in the market does not come through his company. In face he doesn’t know many of the people and businesses that sell the products And in most instances their prices are below what he and his legitimate customers prices are. So how do you fix the problem. It may be nothing to do with the current shake up in customs that some believe is politically motivated.
