There are reports of outbreaks on several cruise ports, some on the Family Islands. But despite the news of almost 400 new cases, hospitalizations are down ( at least by one) and there has been no mention of additional deaths. It may be safe to say that the Omicron wave will soon peak. The concern is with persons who travel and return with the Delta strain and apparently get more sick and have to be hospitalized. Then the question still I unanswered is ‘should persons re-vaccinate after recovering from Omicron?’

two points: Firstly parents, don’t let your emotions get the better of you. Calling for schools to open at this juncture is like former prime minister Dr Hubert Minnis calling elections in the peak of the Delta wave. The results of that poor and reckless decision are well documented and includes record deaths, mass illness and hospitalizations and Minnis being unseated as PM, removed as leader of his party and virtually cast down.

. secondly This argument and rivalry with and between vaccinated and unvaccinated people are baseless, counterproductive and even leads to more confusion and misinformation and misbehavior among vaccinated people. If unvaccinated persons were adding to the Covid-19 problem, then why are groups and gatherings that include only vaccinated persons getting infected and and getting sick, some seriously? There is currently a group of Canadian students who were refused re-entry into Canada after footage to them partying and gatherings without masks were exposed. There are some countries that have little vaccinations but their Covid-19 numbers, including deaths are ways better than some highly vaccinated countries. So it’s not just but the vaccines, but the responsible behavior of a population and the level of exposure to people from the outside. And in The Bahamas, yes this country, that is the greatest challenge. Travel. Records show that a number of persons testing positive for Covid had a recent travel history. And they are required to be vaccinated in order to travel. Some will argue that they will not get sick as bad as an unvaccinated person. .

But the evidence shows they are bringing the virus back home, as as the vaccinated tourists. And most likely than not, it is the deadly Delta strain that had already had its battle in this country. So YOU sound really dumb and stupid even when you try to blame unvaccinated people since the numbers of vaccinated persons are increasing but so are the numbers of infections. so stop it!

my prediction is that eventually people who re-vaccinate after recovering from the Omicron variants will get sick from Covid. Here’s the reason: “The Omnicron strain sees the vaccines as another variant or foreign substance in the body. Overall many retailers experienced a decline in sales year over year for Christmas 2021 over 2020. Many Bahamians took advantage of the opportunity to travel and many have perfected their online shopping skills. Some say January sales for the first week are down by double digits.

the problem with most retailers is they threw COVID caution to the wind. And outside the protocols. Many retailers and shoppers became excited as they saw the crowds and said ‘well maybe it’s ok.’ And so the crowds swelled. And likewise for family and social gatherings. And many party animals and shoppers knew they were infected but they continued to shop and party and to party and shop. The crowded malls, and food stores and phone stores. People didn’t want to miss Christmas. And many became I’ll. And fortunately the Minister of Health had the foresight to cancel carnival. Retailers, who had had a long and difficult year did not want to take the chance of losing customers or sales by asking customers to stand in lines and filter in. They crowded them in and it was mostly staff of these businesses that became ill. And fortunately the Omicron illness is not as serious and severe as the Delta and neither does it last as long. And as for sales, it was mostly hit or miss. Firstly it was the home fix up from paints to decor. And even though electronics saw some hits, the choices for gift giving and self gratification were jewelry and perfumes. Sadly some also gave Covid.

The nation is begging for some type of increased restrictions. Restaurants are going going to curbside and drive through service only. Retailers are limiting the numbers of customers that can enter their stores, banks are shortening their hours and some medical are canceling their services. Some people are refusing to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. Just like it’s vaccines and booster campaigns, government should now take to encouraging people to stay at home and even work from home where possible. That will make curfews and/or lockdowns more unnecessary and less probable. It is the persons who are constantly or repeatedly exposed to the virus that test positive and become I’ll. People who become slightly exposed and isolate over time develop immunity.

Actually it still has retailers working their ASSets off. And , for the most part, the average shopper will not see a decline in their food bill because VAT has been added to items that were formerly exempt. If ANY government serious, remove customs duties and implement a 15% VAT across the board. Stop hoodwinking the people.

Over the holidays it became patently obvious that this new wave of crime is no longer one set of bad boys attacking another set or even someone related to or aquinted with someone who they are beefing with. The general population is now the target of criminals, many of whom became victims during the holidays and businesses and the owners, who also found themselves being targeted in their businesses and on the streets or in their homes. And, hopefully, yes the police will have a swift and effective plan to bring this element of crime and criminals under control. Some victims have been met with physical violence and sexual abuse and some individuals and communities are planning retaliation.
