The Caymans have no choice but to remain under British rule. When Hubert Ingraham rushed to dismantle this country’s lucrative offshore banking system, the Brits took measures to shore up Cayman’s offshore banking system and ensure it was amongst the few ‘untouchable things in the Caribbean. Caymans hold all the UK’s wealth amounting to probably trillions of dollars. You see, when countries like The Bahamas and Barbados and Jamaica started to request their independence from Britain, many expected or feared that the British economy may collapse. So to avoid the panic, the British set up offshore banking in the Caymans. The US and other countries that ‘compelled’ Ingraham to shut down the offshore banking industry here, still have offshore banks for various reasons and purposes. And when have you ever heard of the Caymans being blacklisted

So many young men have been under these brutal attacks of the police because of the Police’s lacy if training, lack of professionalism, lack of restraint and lack of accountability. But this young man got off easy. Some have come out of the grips of the police with broken arms or legs , fractured ribs, internal or head injuries and some still had charges put on them af and made to sign confessions after obviously not knowing anything about the crimes they were accused of. And had to spend years back and forth to courts to get cleared of the charges.

.

.but the Majority of police officers on thr RBPF are hardworking and dedicated officers. They face a mammoth task of trying to keep the peace and law and order in this country. And in light of the current situation with crime, more resources need to be invested in police officers so they don’t have to resort to forced confessions or even unnecessary shootings on the streets. On the force it is usually the hand/me/down tactics of policing and investigation that are used.
.
.The national security recently announced that prison officers will receive training in Italy and hopefully if it is not already being done, police officers sent to Scotland Yard for training or even in Canada.

Other reports say one of the vehicles was being driven by an American. So the person who wrote the article used the term ‘driving’ as opposed to ‘flying’ or ‘sailing’. When one says they are ‘flying to New York, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are flying the plane. So the friends ‘driving to meet each other’ doesn’t necessarily mean that they were both driving vehicles in opposite directions. But other accounts say one of the vehicles was being driven by an American visitors. Sad when what was supposed to be a happy occasion turns tragic. May their souls Rest In Peace

May he Rest In Peace…that narrative that these murders are just a small group of bad boys killing up another set of bad boys must be dispensed with and an even more serious and unrelenting effort to stop these murders must be implemented. Capital punishment should not be off the table.

The fact is that the two accusers left the jurisdiction without submitting to a crucial test that would determine if rape ( or at least sexual assault) had taken place. This is NOT a situation where the accused are saying ‘yes there was sexual inter course but it was consensual. They are saying and maintaining that no sex acts occurred between them and the accusers. Simple rape tests for semen and dna would either confirm or dispel these claims. But the accusers refused to submit to such tests both here and on the cruise ship. And they come some week later and say some FIVE different types of Drugs were found in their system but no alcohol . This is after they, by their own free will posted videos saying what a wonderful time they were having in The Bahamad but they think they consumed too much alcohol. And after other visitors posted videos of the two accusers dancing and knocking knees on top the bar at a resort. So the wait also has its toll on the accused, especially if they are innocent, Snd it continues to affect this country’s tourism industry negatively. And if no rape occurred, then those responsible for making false reports should be made to account and pay penalties.

John says...

Those days if your Jim Crow laws are done. They are finished. The days when you can make false accusations of rape then not only Lynchburg tge accused, but burn and destroy entire communities. Hang your head in shame. But O you have none!

John says...

The commissioner of police knows full well that a rape case cannot proceed if there is no virtual complainant and/ or if they refuse to cooperate with prosecution and submit pertinent evidence. This is starting to look more and more like a conspiracy gone wrong to promote the narrative that The BaHAMAS is not a safe place for tourists ‘ unless you you stay on the cruise ship or only participate in cruise ship sanctioned activities. And if the commissioner had no evidence to dispute all the camera footage and other evidence of eyewitness that disputes the accusers stories, then maybe the commissioner and the Ministry of Tourism should start investigating the cruise line involved in the incident. Especially since it does stand to benefit from the fallout of such story even if it is patently false. And in light of the fact that tourists, who have no reason to lie, says cruise staff are still telling passengers not to leave the ship in the Bahamas or take cash if they do go off the ship. Apparently it now appears that not only do some of these cruise lines want their share of the cruise line industry but they want blood money. They are willing to destroy the credibility and reputation of the country and destroy lives to make another quick buck. Investigate them and if they found to be involved put financial sanctions on them. And if they continue in their devious and wicked ways ban them from The Bahamas, at least for a year or two. 2024 is the year of exposure, correction and redemption. The Bahamas must redeem its tourist and cruise industry from those who hijacking it.

I guess your accusation is greater than all the video camera evidence and wittiness accounts. It is people like you that confirm thiese accusations are not happen chance. Have you no no shame or common decency.

The fact is the Port Authority as it is currently operating. As an adversary to the government and also failing and/or refusing to carry out its financial responsibilities, or, at least, some of them, is the biggest stumbling block to the progress and development of Freeport. Although just recently The Port has made some indication that it is willing to get down of its white ( ok high) horse and become a responsible partner again. In the main time government should continue a ‘build out’ of the Freeport airport and should, in earnest consider a second active airport for Grand Bahama. In the event there is another natural destructive disaster, the probability of both airports being destroyed is half that of one. As for the Lucayan hotel, obviously it is a hard sell, despite obvious signs of a rebound on Grand Bahama and already a shortage of hotel rooms. Buyers are probably waiting for government to lower the preice or repair the hotel or both. But government should continue to operate the part of the property it is currently operating and maybe even repair and open an additional portion of the hotel to meet current demands. If confidence and the revival of Freeport continues, tge law of supply and demand says tge hotel will eventually be sold. But government must stop the development of private cruise ports. These ports give tge cruise lines too much control if the tourist product and excludes too much Bahamians from the industry. And the way the cruise lines want to operate these ports deny cruise passengers the true experience of visiting The Bahamas. The now apparently FALSE accusations of two female tourists being raped in freeport is not happen chance. And government must get serious with rogue cruise lines who are trying to kidnap the industry and hold their passengers hostage whilst in Tge Bahamas and preventing the country from benefiting fully from the multi Billion dollar industry. There many, many cruise ships coming on stream annually but there is still only One Bahamas. Start to penalize and or weed out those cruise lines that continue to act greedy and hoggish and especially the one that is continually being reported to be telling its guests not to leave the ship or not to participate in any activities in Tge Bahamas or not to purchase and items from the Straw Markets because they are contaminated with bugs. Kick them to the curb , not unlike they are doing this country and Bahamians and give priority to cruise lines that are more willing to be in an earnest and mutually beneficial partnership. Suspending the most rogue cruise line for six months to a year will mend their dirty, nasty ways overnight.

The most recent murder on New Providence was another case of mistaken identity or an innocent person being caught up in the crossfire. That is why the so called ‘street justice ‘ or ‘vigilante justice’ is just an excuse for blood thirsty hood looms to commit murder . Whilst claiming to be seeking justice or revenge they come and not only kill the apparent target but sometimes the wrong person or other people who may be present. Theee type murders ( that are planned and premeditated) should be considered the ‘worse of the worst’ and police should aggressively Perdue the perpetrators and they should receive nothing less than the death penalty
