Gerald Ford was the last president who tried to vaccinate the entire US population against a virus (swine flu). But the vaccine manufacturers were reluctant to rush to make a vaccine for fear of being sued should there be adverse effects from the vaccine. Also there was not much profit in vaccines and mass distribution was difficult. So Ford had to pass legislation protecting the drug companies from liability. But when the vaccine became available, people were reluctant and even afraid to take it. So the president went on national tv and took his shot. But shortly thereafter three people who had taken the vaccine dropped dead almost immediately, causing even more people to fear the vaccine and not take it. Eventually the swine flu disappeared completely and President Ford lost the elections.

There are not many businesses that have the staff to utilize of the JFK property. Companies that have large staff also have many of them working from home. But in the long run, after the pandemic passes, do you think BTC's staff will want to continue working from home? what will be the long term effects of work and staying in place? The psychological effects? the loss of personal interaction?

Hopefully this will be the last extension as corona cases have finally started to come down in the United States after months of spikes and surges. Americans are among the most active travelers in the world and once that country brings its corona numbers under control, then the world can get a grip on the virus.

Well, it is not only the travel restrictions but Biden is requiring that all persons working in or visiting federal buildings wear masks and practice other corona safety protocols. The effects are already being seen as corona numbers are starting to come down across the USA.

With the threat of a new more contagious (and possibly deadly) strain of the Covid-19 virus looming and possibly entering this country at any moment, these gross infractions should not go unchecked. In fact government and officials should get a head start and increase the length of curfews for the next two-three weeks. With some of the major stores voluntarily shorteninging their operating hours and with most hotel properties still closed, at least partially, a 9:00 pm curfew will be more bearable now, rather than waiting for the corona numbers to start increasing expoentially and require full lockdowns. And, of course, the latest news coming out of the US is that their corona cases has started to decline for the first time in months. This, of course, excludes the state of New York, which is still battling with spikes and surges. Ironically NY has taken the most steps and attempted to enforce the most safety measures than all the US states. But as the mayor admits, New York is also one of the most visited states from non-resdients and that is what is creating the challenge. But with the Biden Administration enforcing the wearing of masks, social distancing and non gathering of large crowds, NY, too will see their numbers start to decline. And the experts sy the decline is not due to vaccination, because most people who have been vaccinated, have only taken the first part of the vaccine, which doesn't offer protection against the virus until days after the second portion is taken.

PS: if enforcement of safety measures continue, the US can see their corona numbers cut in half by March, (my opinion)

great news! Every state in the US (except New York) is seeing a downward trend in Corona numbers for the first time in months. This comes when experts were expecting a surge in numbers due to holiday travel and gatherings. And they now claim the declining numbers are not due to vaccinations, but because more people are adhering to corona safety measures. And the decline comes when newly elected president,Biden imposes a new travel ban on South Africa and additional restrictions on travel to the UK. Both of these countries have new strains on corona that spreads more rapidly and has the potential to be more deadly.

The suicide rate is increasing around the world due to the corona pandemic. Persons are losing their homes, their businesses and their self worth. They feel empty, lost, hopeless and helpless. The lockdowns are not helping in this instance. And 2021 may be worse than 2020. Government, families co-workers and friends must now create stronger bonds and chains of support. They must instill in each other tfaith that there’s light at the ends of the tunnel. Government must reinforce its suicide prevention efforts.
