The science should also be telling the government to advise Bahamians to avoid all unnecessary travel abroad during the next six weeks. El Paso, Texas saw a 500 percent increase in covid-29 cases over the past two weeks. And history has shown that taking prevented measures and making common sense decisions beforehand is better than having to fight the fallout afterwards.

Then there’s e science of politics. Or is that political science? But explain this one: pandemic experts are predicting that the newt 6 to 8 weeks will be the darkest days of the Corona pandemic in America and other parts of the world as the weather changes and the population moves more indoors. Not only are they predicting unprecedented surges in Corona cases but persons getting gravely ill and unfortunate deaths. Yet this is the same time this country plans to swing its borders wide open again ( big mistake) and attempt to entreat and invite thousands of tourists to its shores. What is the logical science behind that. Where is the wisdom in not waiting an additional 4-6 weeks and allowing this anticipated wave of the virus to pass? The testing and retesting will not be effective enough to protect this already overexposed population.

If you look at the graph for the numbers of covid-19 cases, three distinct waves are clearly visible, indicating that the world is now experiencing the third wave of Corona. But if you look graphs for individual countries are all varied. China, for example had a wave in the early part of the year. But then it flattened its curve and its cases have remained relatively low ( below 20) ever since. Russia did not see a major surge until later and now its number of daily cases continue to climb. And the United States reflects the world curves, despite continuing to see increases in new cases and deaths, it’s graph shows three distinct waves. The Bahamas also shows three clear waves. One back in March after which the curve was flattened and the number of cases remained close to zero until August when the borders were reopened and started a new surge of cases. Then there was some decline in the numbers as most cases were occurring on New Providence and on Abaco. But now there has been a resurgence of cases on Eleuthera, Bimini and Grand Bahama and the past two weekends saw record cases and hence a third wave. Of interest is Florida’s curve. As you know Florida was taking little precautions against the virus. Their beaches and restaurants and nightclubs remained open. And their numbers surged. The first wave. Then Florida took some measures, like closing its beaches, encouraging the wearing of masks and social distancing. Florida numbers has plunged over the past few weeks. But guess what? Florida just lost a court order to enforce curfews on restaurants and nightclubs. So then expect another surge in a few days.

This vaccine travels around the world getting more infectious and more deadly. Once it reaches back to its point of origin, it has mutated, probably several times. When the antibodies in a person who has been infected and recovered becomes more resistant then it will block the virus. Once enough people develops this resistance, herd immunity will kick in and the virus will disappear.

John says...

There will be NO vaccine ok. Once those vaccines go through the tests and trials and reconfigurations and approvals, the virus will have mutated, possibly more than once and so the vaccine will be obsolete

John says...

There will be NO vaccine for the covid-19 virus. After 1:3 of the world’s population is infected, with the relevant deaths, herd immunity will kick in and the virus will disappear . Proper wearing of masks, social distancing, proper hygiene and maintaining a strong immune system is your best defense. Stay woke.
