If men were to cut their genitals off and hand them to some of these women, they still beill not be satisfied and ask for more and them some. Is it that these women hate and despise men or do are they overcome with self hate for their own gender? Or maybe they have a false perception of what the man’s world is really like. Men have given up a lot of rights and privileges and at this expense, women are more equal to men probably more so than ever in the history of the human existence. . Talking with a young man just recently, he says even the dating/club scene doesn’t make sense to him. He explained that if a young man goes in the club and sees a ‘female’ he may like. So he goes and offers to buy a drink. She says, ‘yes you can buy me a drink, but I’m with my friends can you also purchase drinks for them.’ And if it’s three or four of them the tab can easily be $60-70. So now his response is ‘Miss I only interested in you, not your friends, I also have my friend with me. If any of them want to talk to him, then he will buy them a drink. The point is women are on this equality and equal rights trip but they don’t want to give up the privileges ( and freebies) they enjoyed when they were tge fairer sex. If a man takes a woman on a date the guy usually end up paying for everything if not most things. So the guy goes home broke and the woman, who is now an equal opportunity earner, goes home with all her money in her purse. And the stupid argument that women should be given opportunity by quota. Isn’t this the reverse of what you are trying to dismantle. A male dominated society. Women have proven they are capable of achieving and performing at any post and on any level in this country. And Bahamian men do not feel threatened or intimidated by that, not even when some of these women become masculine in their approach and demeanor. But to still cry that women are victims of sexual discrimination and need more right.,. Something wrong with that
Just don’t let BPL go the way of BTC. The communications company was a cash cow for the government. Then the government, without proper research ind sufficient information sold BTC. Okay gave it away. With the promise of getting better service at lower costs. Was this experience realized. Hell no! Tha average Bahamian cannot afford to keep minutes on their phone even for the instance of an emergency or important conversation and some landline repairs are taking in excess of six months to complete. BTC has intentionally or otherwise altered its internet services in some areas that it consumes the consumers data when they should be on Wi-fi. In other words if you have internet at home and switch from your data to Wi-Fi, the service is so intermittent or signal so weak or service so slow, you switch back to data or your device does do automatically so your data is consumed instead of internet. And can you point to one infractutal development that has been made since BTC was sold? None! In fact BTC has been shredding assets since it was sold including buildings utility poles cables and cell towers. In the situation of BPL why the desire to split the company up? First they jinx the government to do that, then hoodwink them into selling of the most profitable part . Then the government sinks into deeper debt trying to maintain two unprofitable sectors ehilst the shysters have run off with the golden goose. Think about this: utility companies team up with companies supplying power in surrounding areas to provide power because it caused them to realize more economies of scale. So if this government dismantles any part of BPL and sells off any part ( ok gives it awsy) Bahamians be prepared for a rough ride. Most likely darkness or electricity the average Bahamian cannot afford
The GBPA was at one point ( recently)claiming they owed government nothing. Most Grand Bahamians (since Dorian or even before)feel Grand Bahama would be better off without the port. As least in their current capacity. The spirit of the original port developers had left that organization and so had the magic city left Freeport. That is until other powers decided to not allow Freeport to suffer anymore and revive its economy without the blessings of the Port Authority, an unusual occurrence when even investors in Freeport tend to favor the government more in this impasse than the Port.
Do you know what happens when a government taxes it’s own people increasingly and mercilessly but foreigners and foreign enterprises operate in that country paying minimal taxes under the premise of ‘ contributing to the local economy?’ Well the local economy eventually shrinks and dries up and what is left is taken over by foreigners. Increasing taxes on Bahamian generated revenue does not expand the economy. It may increase government revenue in the short term and midterm but it will eventually kill out the economy. And whilst government, in its economic ignorance’ and blind sightedness continues to allow cruise ships to penetrate more and more into The Bahamian tourist economy and displace more and more Bahamians and garnish even less and less taxes per tourists dollar, it better prepare for the inevitable. A self implosion of the Bahamian economy ( government expenditure vastly exceeding revenue) AND an uprising of the Bahamian people. How do you even now want to exclude Bahamian taxi drivers, jet ski operators and even hair braiders from the mix of a multi/billion dollar industry? Do you know if there was no BaHAMAS and no Jamaica an d rest of the Caribbean, the cruise ship industry would collapse overnight? Y’all better stop jokin and fix this
If they don’t want to own up and pay up, then tell pack their brief case and magic carpet and disappear. How you be criticizing the government for not living up to its responsibilities but you , GBPA, as a private entry, collecting the Bahamian ( ok and non Bahamians ) taxes and fees and not doing what you are obligated and mandated to do. Government may be a necessary component but the GBPA had become obsolete and may benefit the country if it continues to fry up and disappear like a line of cocaine in a drug house.
Any time you hear ‘GANGS’ you better believe America is involved and it is always in a sinister. But can America and France avoid the inevitable when it comes to Haiti. This country’s economy and freedom and peace and progress has been kidnapped, ravaged and pilfered since the 1700’s. But those who called the tune will have to pay the piper… eventually
When a country is under seige they will seize the power company and make it dysfunctional, unreliable or an affordable or a combination of all of the above. Do you see what is happening with BTC? Orr
Just recently a man was released from a US jail after. Serving FIFTY years for a murder he didn’t commit. And yesterday another man who was found guilty of FIVE murders spent eight hours in the ‘death chamber’ as efforts to carry out the death penalty by lethal injection failed. No the question is should his death penalty be reduced because of unnecessary and ‘inhumane punishment’ or should the state use the alternate form of carrying out the death penalty. That is death by a firing squad. . . The stories of police beating suspects are numerous and some no less than barbaric. Some have left innocent victims with broken legs and arms and ribs, head and neck injuries and internal bleeding and organ damage. Not to mention the emotional trauma. There have been reports of innocent young men. Some even school age being picked up by police, detained, beaten savagely and made to sign confessions. Some were just released after a weekend of torture and some were released after 48 hours and re arrested and kept in jail until their wounds healed somewhat. Being beaten with a cutless, a metal chair, pieces of 2x4 wood, being tied to a metal chair that was attached to an electrical cord and shocked until passing out or having one’s testicles locked in the jaws of a pair of ‘wide grips’ are just some of reports. And more than half the victims were innocent. In 2024 one would think the police would spend more resources on training its officers in the procedures of proper investigation and not still resort to the barbaric processes of torture they employ today. Not long ago police were accused of tossing suspects in a canal after being told they could not swim in an effort to get them to confess. One of the suspects managed to survive.
Or how about a case where a nonBahamian boat captain shoots two senior police officers with a shotgun. One in khaki uniform and he is given bail and set free without even putting a foot in a courtroom. And set free with a clear understanding that he will not return to court or face trial even though the evidence against him as as clear as the sun is bright in September In crime, color matters and nationality matters. And the white peoples go free. Ask the ole Fort Bay resident who killed her husband . The case against the unfortunate victim wasn’t thrown out because the police beat him black and blue and tell him about his ma and wat they did to her. And forced him to confess to FOUR different crimes in a matter of hours, It was thrown out because when the judge refused to accept the confession and the police withdrew the confession, the police had no other evidence!
