One good thing is the price of gas and fuel will be down for several more months, at least, so this will cut down tremendously on the import bill. And is significant efforts are made to cut the food imports bill even more by years end. The problem with the US is they are reopening so harp harzardly, it will be difficult bribery a criteria to screen tourists. And maybe if Bah Mar opens and acts temporarily like an ‘all inclusive’ resort vwhere guests are not only screened but not allowed to leave the property, except on guided tours and restricted locations. America, itself, believes a second wave of the virus will hit, maybe as early as August, or during the winter cold and flu season when it will guise itself in with the common flu. Saying that to say that making the wrong decision or a premature decision can create both more economic hardship and health concerns and even more deaths. Err on the side of caution, keep the social distancing and other measures and place and continue to operate the country in ‘districts’ so if there is an outbreak it can be contained. Both China and Japan are opening up tourists attractions and they will now set the mode. Orlando is opening one of its ‘mostly outdoor’ theme parks and so it will be watch and see

So what you are saying is with all these fantabulous investment opportunities in oil, in the airline industry, in cruise business, in hotels and food , just to name a few, the Bahamian investment funds will be on lock and they miss out on these probably once in a lifetime opportunities? Y’all ain’t serious!

John says...

Please be strict with the quarantine and isolations. You were generous enough to get them all home safely, something that every Bahamian deserves, so a few more days in quarantine is a small sacrifice.

Today is one of the most active days across New Providence since the Corona pandemic started. So by middle of next week the country will know if the testing to continue reopening the economy and community was passed of if further lockdowns and delayed openings are necessary.

Well those Spanish Wells people always wanted to be separate, so now they will experience what it’s like to be truly ‘cut off’. Will never forget the experience of riding through the Spanish Eells channel and have them follow you menancingly along the shoreline with loaded shotguns and rifles to make sure you don’t ‘come ashore’. I would take my own time replacing the bridge because this is what they always wanted.

This will be an excellent stimulus to keep the country moving as Tourism still seems to be some distance off from opening back fully. Make it a full billion and share the works around the Family Islands. Tourism budget can be cut by 50 percent for now as a number of other Ministeries. Include the Carmichael Road expansion project because driving in that area on a regular day is a nightmare.

Don’t let the Corona Pandemic distract from the hurricane season and you as an individual , or a family or as this nation be caught unprepared

Minnis should not compromise the Health and Safety of this nation by becoming the all powerful, all controlling.. even if not by his intention. Put a competent person to be in charge of Ministry of Health and to be answerable to a higher authority and to the people of The Bahamas.

John says...

For the sake of the security of the people of this country even as to what may appea to be too much power in the hands of one man, Minnis should not take on the role of Health Minister, but seek to appoint a new minister as soon as the sun rises.

The fact is these pumps are not designed for public or commercial use. They are not tamper proof. The well is accessible from the pump and can be contaminated at will. With anything .
