Several of the Corona cases and deaths this week were due to breeches in the Medical System. Misjudgment and or mistake that led to both patients and health care personnel being unintentionally and knowingly exposed to the Corona virus. And so it is more than hypocrisy for Minnis to come in front of the nation and double the fines and penalties for persons breaking the curfew. In most incidences it is a person trying to get from point a to point b, or get food or supplies in like manner and they get caught up and out of time. And in most cases they are alone and isolated where they come in contact with no one other than the person they set out to meet, so the chances of spreading the virus is slim to none. And they are almost always from the poor and low income bracket. How can a so called caring PM justify doubling the fines and jail time on these people

Corona is not like Aids where it infects the body and remains. If no sickness develops it is usually gone in 14 to 21 days and if it is not present a person can contract the virus as soon as leaving the testing facility. So testing has to be done in a systematic bfashion, yes even if it is random testing , where the results can be correlated and be of use to medical and social planners. Because of the great demand on facilities that process the results of the tests, mass testing was not appropriate because the test results would be void be the time they were received. So medical expert resorted to statistical charting , where they plotted the results of all tests given, recorded persons who had the disease and persons who tested negative as well as numbers of persons in quarantine . This allowed them to determine the model of graph most suitable for how the codvid-19 virus is behaving in the Bahamas and project what will happen in the future. This is why they (medical staff) have predicted that the virus will peak in The Bahamas (New Providence) sometime next week. So they use different tools or mechanisms to achieve the same result. And once the virus has peaked , they may want to do additional testing (not necessarily mass testing ) to determine how active the virus still is and the general areas the cases exist. This can allow for them to make a determination as to when and how to relax restrictions and start to open the economy back up. Because of what is going on in the US and even Florida, they may chose to keep the country’s boarders closed even after Bahamians are given the green (or yellow) light to move about. Persons entering the country can bring a different strain of the virus and cause another outbreak. China claims it has identified some 30 different strains of Codvid-19. Again these are my opinions and not offered as expert advice.

When people find their comfort zone, they make it their life and their passion. A favorite Bahamian quote, “The only thing I want to do is live.” May his soul “Rest In Peace.”

You cannot say the lockdowns will not or cannot work if , firstly, you don’t know the intention of them. The fact is this Corona virus is expected to pass over the entire population. And if you recall the original projections, some EIGHTY percent of the population was projected to fall ill and some 30 percent requiring treatment and/or hospitalization. And the mortality rate was expected to be some 5 %. ( or 1,500 deaths). And as you can see, at least at this stage the country, even like NY is with the highest rate of cases outside China ( and besides Ecuador) is well below what was projected . What social distancing, curfews and lockdowns intend your do is to stagger the spread of the virus by limiting contact and preventing a bunch of people getting sick all at once and overwhelming the health care system . Quarantine and curfew, besides limiting a persons contact with others also puts a person in ‘bed rest’ mode so if the virus develops the body will have more ability to resist and fight off the virus. Closing the boarders means that no other persons come into the population, either bringing in different strains of the virus or giving it additional fuel to feed on. And based on China’s premise that once you survive the virus, you become immune to it, the numbers should start going down after the virus has passed over most or all of the population and it is at that point that China started to reopen and relax its restrictions , but it kept tight control of people entering or reentering the country. And then there is the talk of a ‘second wave.’ What is believed to happen is a mutated strain of the virus gets in to the population and starts to reinfect persons who already had the virus. In the case of the Spanish flu, the second round was more deadly than the first, but it can also be weaker and wear off quicker if curfews, lockdown , social distancing , proper hygiene is exercised. Again this is my understanding of how the virus operates and this was not taken from any medical journals or expressed as proven bf acts.

While he is sayin 6 months, the Ministry of Health is preparing more beds for Corona patients. New infections in the US continue to be in the thousands and several thousand deaths yesterday . So it may be end of summer even before the ‘all clear’ for the Bahamas alone is declared . And that is the danger for persons who are taking out new loans to ‘save’ their businesses. In the US, for example, many of these loans have been consumed even before the businesses have been allowed to reopen. So by the time they do, they will be facing double or even triple the debt. Restaurants and bars are being told to pay staff and rent. But can you imagine paying 6 months of staff and rent? What you doing is artificially keeping these things inflated. In six months the lease may be worth half of what it is now so when the business does reopen it is still not viable because all the businesses around it are paying half the overhead, including staff and rent, and are not saddled with an oversized loan. And as Warren Buffet would say, stay debt free as much as possible, it not completely .

Junkanoo is, by far, the largest crowd gathering in the country. Health officials in the US are projecting a second wave of Corona may not come this summer but disguised in the cold and flu season this winter. You cannot exercise social distancing at a Junkanoo event. So this will be touch and go.

When they bday ‘clean’ they mean decontamination and sanitized. Most companies prefer to leave the premises unoccupied for a period of time to aid in this process.

Obviously The Tribune is a part of the international press gang whose agenda is to try this case in the media and garner support against Nygard and others who have been mentioned in the lawsuit. And whilst no allegations of rape or sexual assault should not go without investigation and punishment when wrongdoing is established, it is just as damaging when the press or any other individual or estate fires up all of their cylinders and publishes wild, nasty and unsubstantiated allegations against an individual who may be innocent in even for the most part. Do the Tribune can easily be mistaken for the punch today. So if you missed the bold print on the front page, the bold print on page 7 gives you a second chance to avoid this story being bogged down in the Covid-19 pandemic that is affecting the lives of millions and has taken many thousands of lives.

My understanding is this virus will pass over the entire population regardless of curfew or lockdowns. Curfews and lockdowns help stagger the progress of the virus and by being in a ‘rest’ mode persons are less likely to become severely ill when they contract the virus. The ‘closed boarders’ mechanism helps prevent ‘strangers’ from bringing new strains of the virus into a population and causing the virus to mutate more rapidly or even reinfect as China is claiming is happening over there. And they are rapidly trying to control it and restrict and monitor the number Of persons entering China so as to prevent a second wave. So if you assume these two new cases in Bimini (and even the one on Cat Cay) are related. Then you ask why so long a gap between these cases and the first ones. Well persons who originally came in contact with the first patients may have been healthy carriers of what your prime minister refers to as ‘super spreaders’, meaning they have the virus, but no symptoms. But when they come into contact with less vulnerable persons who may have a compromised immune system even, then these people develop the disease. Again this is just my opinion or understanding as to how this virus operates. And notice that the persons in quarantine have also gone back up.
