This tragic incident seemed to have caught all the top brass off guard. Not that it is one officer of the armed forces accused of killing his superior but that the incident took place on Government House, which is not only the highest office in the land but suppose to be the most secure compound. So, yes there needs to be investigation beyond the criminal case. Is there any relation with this incident and all the retaliatory ‘hit’ type murders in the country? What is driving these killings and motivating the killers? Is there forces beyond the country involved? Is someone trying to destroy the economy or destabilize the country or all all these shootings and killings random and isolated persons incidents. Some being gangs earring with each other? When one citizen is not safe, none are safe. So this inquiry is a good one. But there should also be certain levels of security for information gathered.

The government may discover that much of that $500 Million they are claiming in outstanding property taxes do not exist. For one there are many properties in the inner city that have been uninhabitable for many years. Yet they are being assessed property taxes. Some buildings have been completely demolished and became vacant property and that property is still being taxed. And some properties have been sold for many years, but the original owner and the new owner are being billed for property tax. Property tax has to be paid for the new owner to get clear title, but the DIR comes to them years after the fact and says the taxes are still owing. And many Bahamians still question why after having to pay the government 35% import duties on everything that goes into constructing a building plus 12% VAT, they must still pay property taxes. Unlike the United States where they only pay 7% sales taxes on properties then a property tax is more justified. And still government charges an additional 5% interest on late payments. Most banks are paying 0 to 1/2% interest on bank deposits.

BTC has been for a while like a horse without a rider. It knew it was in a race but had no sense of direction. And the company continues to trade out its top executives even before they know how to find their way from JFK to Cable Beach. BTC has shunned its partnership with local Bahamians, forcing many franchise stores to close down, after only recently opening shop and still having lease agreements with landlords. Aliv came into the market with a focused marketing strategy. They captured a good portion of the mobile market over a short period of time. And the company kept its customers happy by offering new packages, new headsets and great promotions and top service. The local stores that sold Aliv received bonuses when they sold Aliv packages and the customer service at Aliv is their winning trademark. No sour faces and rotten attitudes. No waiting several minutes for calls to be answered and being put on hold forever. And Aliv broadened its icnome stream by adding Western Union and DHL. Increasing the foot traffic into their stores. And now you can go into an ALiv store and purchase BTC Top Up! And also Digicel for most Caribbean Countries..So. according to Aliv, even if you are a BTC subscriber you have no reason to go to BTC. When go look at sour and tired faces at BTC when you can BE ALIV!

"Learn the African-American experience. In many educational institutions, a white student can pursue degrees all the way from a bachelor’s to a Ph.D. and never read a single word about African American history or a single work written by a black or brown scholar. A student of color, however, can’t make it through the first semester without studying the story of white civilization. If you aren’t familiar with such events as the Middle Passage, the Stono Rebellion, Nat Turner’s uprising, Jim Crow, the Great Migration and the murder of Emmett Till, do some remedial reading before you do any more talking or tweeting. Start with Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? then move on to Divided by Faith, A Stone of Hope, and other books about the black experience in America. Let those works be the seedbed for a more diverse reading list in your future"

The long shadow of American slavery

"More than a century after African American slavery came to an end, shadows of these systems remain. Despite much progress, patterns of privilege and power remain in place that prevent equal access to justice and economic opportunity.

Right now, there are more young African-American men behind bars, on parole or on probation than were enslaved in the 1850s.
African Americans are nearly twice as likely as whites to have zero or negative financial net worth—33.9 percent compared to 18.6 percent. According to the most recent census, ***the average net worth for African American families was $4,900, compared to $97,000 for whites.***
Even after controlling for other factors, African Americans are far more likely than whites to be stopped and searched, handcuffed, subjected to nonlethal force and shot to death by police.
These are the poisonous fruits of centuries-old thefts and continuing prejudices. In recent months, this festering poison has risen to the surface in the shape of so, so many painful hashtags—each one representing the loss of one more life created in God’s image.

So what can each of us do to move in the direction of healing and justice?

A good place for each of us to start would be to locate, listen, learn and leverage.

Locate and cultivate friendships that can challenge you. Do you have friendships with people from other ethnic backgrounds that run so deep that these individuals are able to challenge your prejudicial assumptions or attitudes? If you aren’t certain whether or not you have such a friend, you don’t.

Listen and weep before you speak. What is your first impulse when it appears that an unarmed person of color is killed by law-enforcement officers? If your first impulse is to score political points or to seek justification, stop. Be broken over the loss of a life formed in God’s image and grieve the way that the brokenness in our world has taken a disproportionate toll on communities of color. Listen to your brothers and sisters whose skin is a different color than yours, and consider how this event looks from their vantage point."

The intention is to keep Bahamians on the front page portrayed as violent, thugs predators, killers, lazy, and use it to take every dollar out of our pockets. They stealing your country from right under your feet and our leaders our blinded. Don't forget what they did and continuing to to Jamaica.Brazil, Venezuela, Barbados...Minnis..invest more money in Bahamians, especially young men, and stopp take, take taking...!

So everyone is asking’ Why is everyone in Nassau so angry?’ Maybe that question should be asked of Burger King who is now introducing its ‘even angrier whopper!’ So what is the subliminal message here or is something really in the food or diet that is making Bahamians angry? Or it’s just the day to day stress of survival that is getting to them? One of the young men that was killed on Potters Cay doesn’t live in Nassau. He was here to attend the funeral of a prison officer that was st 11:00 am today. He didn’t make the funeral. RIP. The other two men who were shot and killed in the Kemp Road area were said to be caught up in the crossfire between two vehicles that didn’t involve them. Was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So mow that the police is doing their job apprehending law breakers, now is the time to get boots on the ground and find the reason for all these murders. They will never stop until the problem is fixed.

If Donald Trump implements his 25% tariffs on China imports as promised on Friday, these goods will become almost as expensive in Florida and New York as they currently are in Nassau. And if the Bahamas stops sissyin around with all this WTO bs they can seize an opportunity to become a marketing hub for the rest of The Caribbean and South and Central America.

They claim the fatherless homes contribute to crime but yet they want a female in charge of the police force. May God have mercy on us again!
