The records are starting to show that when he was Vice President, L B Johnson had John F . Kennedy killed (coup) so he could become president. Even though the Vice President is the second most powerful man, he only has the power the president gives to him. Who is Donald Trump VP then?)! And LB J went on to accomplish many of the things JFK left on the agenda even while having to fight JFK’s brother Robert Kennedy in the Senate. So Brave Davis now finds himself in a situation where his time to become prime minister is running out and if Minnis gets it right and his government performs beyond the expectations of the Bahamian people, the opportunity for Brave to become prime minister will be no more. So will he want to leave his legacy as being the opposition leader who constantly led his other three members to walk out of the House of Assembly and boycott its meetings?
There should be some way to retire public figures and public servants more ceremoniously than telling them to bend over and kicking them in the assets. And if you retire a long serving police officer while his wife has been dragged before the courts, and if Meltdown Marvin has anything to do with it, you at least want to sway public perception in a certain direction. Ellison Greenslade got sent of as ambassadors to England and a long serving officer must have had some good service in him. But without personalizing it, the armed forces in this country have many officers that reach retirement age but have many years, if God’s willing, of useful life left in them. Can they fill positions in schools where there is a great shortage of male teachers? Can they go on to build the police college and other institutions international academies that train police and other officers from the Caribbean and eventually around the world or even some other government job. In the US the highest rate of suicide , besides transsexual who have sex change operations. Is among retired military personnel who have seen active duty. Many return home to be homeless and feeling abandoned.
One of the biggest disappointments under the FNM is the behavior of Marvin Dames and his police force and their torturing tactics and even killing of civilians, some patently innocent. The most killings by police probably in the entire history of the Bahamas. One would think that rather that the PLP would’ve used this to launch an attack on the government for the benefit of the Bahamian people. Especially those individuals and families who have had their lives ruined by police brutality, false charges and wrongful death. Instead the PLP chose to focus their energy on their own people. Some who are still before the courts and may or may not be guilty. So the poor victims of illegal police actions are still left defenseless. And since the prime minister told the police to go to the gates of hell, if they had to, to find the person who killed one of their own, he remains uncharacteristically silent on the actions of the police. Even after Meltdown Marvin had his tirade in the HOA. There are young Bahamian men who had to leave New Providence after being constantly being beaten and harassed by police and being put in fear for their lives. In this Bahamas. A corrupt police force is the most dangerous gang a country can have.
Any conservation measures without stepped up protection and increased penalties against poachers will fall. In fact it will only be a matter of denying the conch to Bahamians to the advantage of poachers.
> He said: “I’m satisfied that majority > of the Bahamian people still believe > in the PLP brand and I’m satisfied > that the majority of Bahamian people > still believe that we are the party > for the people.”
This is the most invisible the PLP has been in many years. Not saying they still do not have their base but many supporters do not publicly associate with the PLP. Back in the days past when the PLP was in opposition, their supporters used every opportunity and every occasion to wear their gold rush shirts and chant, "it ainn long now." Maybe it is the way the FNM came galloping in with handcuffs and arrest warrants and locked up and charges some high ranking PLP officials that party supporters have decided to take a low profile even though there was a gold rush of sorts when the Frank Smith case was thrown out. And then there is the DNA. They seem to have recovered more quickly and more refreshingly from their defeat at the last Elections and came offering those who do not support the current government a viable alternative. In the main time the FNM seems to have gotten its wheels unstuck out of muck and is making some forward movement. There is positive movement in the economy, especially in the tourist sector and this along with other government and private projects has the potential to drive to drive the economy to where it needs to be. Saying that to say the FNM's performance over the next few years will set that stage for Election 2022. And if their performance is better than expected, it is the opposition vote that will be split between the PLP and the FNM and the FNM will see itself loosing one or two members but not even having to worry about losing the government. And they will become the first consecutive two term government in two decades. Then ALL of the PLP old guard will disappear off the scens nd it will be left to the young people as to what they ant to do with the PLP.
Can Marvin Dames or a police spokesman say if any of the high powered assault weapons found on the streets of new providence came from that cache of high powered weapons that went missing from the US's department of Alcohol, firearms and Tobacco? And if so how many?
When the FNM loses the government Meltdown Marvin and Cain Toad Ferguson are gonna be the first two to be fishbagged and waterboarded. Not that it’s the right thing but that sometimes people need a dose of they own poison.
The streets say Marvin Dames is having nightmares of his significant other with a plastic fishbag over their hard And grasping for breath, struggling to breathe but innocent of all accusations. Life changing moments.
