Hubert Ingraham kicked hot hostile and incredible investors and Lynden Pindling just made it impossible for them to operate. And In the case of Eleuthera, the North is finally showing signs of recovery, but the South is just how Pindling left it.

The thing about these political appointees is if they would only sit small, try learn their duties and carry on smartly. But no they have to be rebel rousers or trouble makers even or those who try politicize their positions and spend time trying to draw headlines in the news. Then when elections come and the party that politically appointed them loses power, they are the first to get kicked to the curb, unceremoniously and, most times, deservedly so. This government appears weak and lacking in the public’s eye already.

So who is more qualified for their post: Marlon Johnson as financial secretary or Omar Archer as registrar in Ministry of Works. What is certain is that with the two party system, especially of late, the modus operandi is that when a party gets kicked out of office, the incoming party fills positions with party supporters. Even to the contracts to clean parks and street verges. Is this a good policy? Well, of course it can be costly, especially when qualified people are replaced with less qualified or unqualified workers. And their most crucial qualification is they are party supporters. And the most dangerous activity of these political appointees is when they go on these jobs and try to clear out everyone else who is not a party supporter. Or they set policies, albeit, or engage in actions that affect or hinder persons in the business sector or general community that they assume are not their party supporters. Then election comes again and the exercise starts all over again.

On Archer right for job? Someone thought so

Still may be sabotaging. There are 12 year old boys that go fishing by themselves in the most challenging weather. And at one point almost all boats in the islands were native built. I still smell sabotage. And it stinks.

Does the buyer list include the person who is also interested in purchasing BoB among other things?

Many businesses will be pot to the test in a matter of days as those who revert VAT to the government quarterly will have to pay on October 21st. Not only will these businesses be paying the 12% VAT for the first time but they would have only paid out 7.5% on their inputs (goods for sale). So while their deductions will be less, government will be taking the lion's share of revenue. Super Value and other stores that paid in August and September had this experience of paying more VAT than they expected. This may even cause some businesses to have a cash flow if they were not properly prepared for it.

Today is the first of October. Nine months of 2018 have passed and three months are left. And every year around this time many are wondering to if the murder count will stay under the 100 mark. Will it at least be lower than last year's. And then, for some unusual reason, violence escalates (and crime) and the murder count shoots up. At present the murder count stands at round 70 with some cases having not yet been classified. Two dead or decaying bodies found in New providence and one in Abaco and another in Grand Bahama. So at present the murder rate is 7.77 (rounded to 8) and if the trend continues a total count will be in the high 90's. But last year the count was still averaging 8 murders per month but the incidence shot up in the last quarter pushing the count to 127 and an average of 10.58 murders a month. Then there was also a gight of police involved shootings that resulted in death. Hopefully it will not be like that this year and the count stays below 100.

So what is the update on the 17 y/o school boy the police and DEA allegedly brought to the capital from Abaco for having a joint of marijuana..

The laws for one must apply to all. And this battle with NYgard, et. al., has ran on long enough. Two Million Dollars will not cripple Nygard, nor send him to the poor house. Maybe it’s a matter for Nygard of, ‘Even after I settle this claim, will I be able to lay back and lick my wounds in peace, then move on with my life.’ Knowing the nature of the beast, the answer a negative. Bacon is expensive. In fact many Bahamians can't afford it.
