The government should not buy this hotel! Even if they must sweeten the pot to get Wynn or another hotel operator to buy and operate it Government should listen to Hubert Ingraham's and other experience peoples' advice and stay out of the hotel sinkhole. Then it should bring pressure on the owners of the Port Authority to invest and revitalize Freeport. And it should partner with stakeholders to advertise and market Freeport. If misguided Minnis and his government purchases this property, they will be right back here next year, in front of the Bahamian people, not with cap in hand and with humility, but in an arrogant way, increasing taxes and seeing an increase in the national debt and still borrowing. Yes, a government cannot heal its financial woes with an ailing economy that needs fixing, but it must dig a bigger financial hole by acts of desperation.

RBC's problems extend beyond the ATM's. For several years account holders have been facing the dilemma of thousands and thousands of dollars going missing off their accounts and this includes persons who were not using the ATM's. In many cases, employees were involved in the missing funds. And RBC has been trying to close the gap and take control of the situation by eliminating fast tellers, stopping in-bank deposits and withdrawals, and only accepting checks that are drawn on their own accounts. So if you have a check from Singapore and want to buy chewing gum, you cannot cash that check at RBC.

How would an all inclusive resort benefit the rest of Freeport. Cruise ships are not only ‘all inclusive ‘ but the discourage passengers from spending money off ship because they want to hog it all. So with over three million cruise ship passengers coming to New Providence, there is little economic impact. And why should Hubert Ingraham have to keep his mouth closed. Does being a former prime minister exclude him from voicing his opinion? At least it is a more informed opinion than what some of you are posting here.

The government claim they would use this module when VAT was introduced to quarantine goods that were already imported before the fact to be excluded from being charged VAT. But since this Economic Empowerment Project excludes 80 percent of the people it intends to help, it is doomed to.failure in its present form. When you go to feed hungry people or you go to rescue suffering people you don’t set criteria that excludes most of those that need to be fed or those that need to be rescued otherwise they would not need government assistance in the first place. Government, in its arrogance and ion ignorance most not make a bad situation worse.
