Personally I think someone is trying to incite friction between Bahamians and Haitians with all these fires etc. And it has already been confirmed that not all people living in the shanty towns are Haitian and not all the Haitians in the shanty towns are illegal immigrants. And while we may not want the shantys in this country only a low life, sick minded criminal would set fire to the only belongings people have, without even the slightest consideration that lives may be lost, not excluding young children and infants even. Just hope that while the have you hating on the Haitians they are sneaking other nationalities in and giving them citizenship and the royal teatment

"That path is paved by donations / bribes / handouts / kickbacks and promise of a future seat as a board of directors member. "

So which of the above you suggesting Minnis got? After all his mandate to the Bahamian people is to stamp out corruption.

Based on what was presented thus far to the public, Minnis should halt this contract pending further investigation. Minnis definitely did not know what he was signing and, the public still does not know who he was signing with. And if the signatures are are forged or even irregular, that is more grounds for Minnis to divorce himself from this marriage. What government gives a high polluting industry, like an oil refinery, tax free status in any event? If anything they are taxed more, based on the safety risk they pose and the potential to pollute and the waste they will generate.

There's another side of this story that hasn't been told. Like what was the original intention of this guy when he bought the gas. But after that plot failed....he went to plan 'B'.

Bahamians must realize that migration and illegal immigration are worldwide problems and not just exclusive to the Bahamas and with Haitian people. Italy has over 600,000 illegal immigrants, most of whom are from Africa. Then there is the millions who have left Syria and The neighboring country and flooding down into European countries. And whenever a country has better living standards or more labor opportunities than its surrounding neighbors, persons will trickle into that country. The keys to stemming the problem is (1) To keep the citizenship register sterile and free from having counterfeit names added. (2) Not to let or allow persons (or their offspring) who enter the country illegally, migrate from being illegal to having status. And actions to remove the illegals from the country must be swift and decisive. The longer they stay the more rights they will assume to have. And there must be some penalties beyond repatriation for repeat offenders. Either jail time increasing fines or both.

This system started in Canada and now extends down beyond Puerto Rico where there was also huge waves on the coast.. And there is another behind this one forcing fishing boats to remain in port. Some for over a week.
