There are over 50 million overseas Chinese. Most overseas Chinese are living in Southeast Asia where they make up a majority of the population of Singapore (75%) and significant minority populations in Thailand (14%), Malaysia (23%), Indonesia, Brunei (10%), the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Did Rony not his documents were lost in a fire. And somewhere along the line did he not say Immigration kept losing his files. Would be interesting to know where they got that early photo that is attached to the emergency travel document that was recently issued.

The Haitian problem needs a permanent fix to it. Set the law clearly in stone. Either children born to illegal immigrants will be deported or will have to register as citizens in the country of their parents OR they will be permitted to stay in the country and apply for citizenship at the age of eighteen. The fact that Rony was both deported to Haiti then returned to The Bahamas from that country shows the deportation process is workable. According to officials, Rony had no travel documents when he was deported. And if records and documents confirm that Rony was in the country from birth to present, the least that should be done is to grant him permanent residency. And yes there is a problem with false documents in this country. Just the number of persons, Haitian and Filipinos And Hispanic And even Chinese who have drivers licenses and cannot speak English for basic communication.

***Sheeprunne***r your argument is entirely WRONG...did you miss the awards ceremony last week where persons have passed 8 and 9 of the exams you mentioned? Some with as many "A's" and "B's" as the number of exams they sat. the problem is keeping the cream of the crop here when so much better opportunities are available abroad. And this whole Education system is a fraud that is designed to label most students as failures because it rates everything on academics. A person going to work in a hotel as a maid or porter does not need a 3.0 GPA. Likewise for mechanics and construction workers or farmers. In fact a 3.0 student will not function in these jobs. Time for the government to stop following foreigners and quoting 'D' as the national average. Not everyone is born smart, just as not everyone is born white or tall. Match the students with their skills and develop the skills and their interests after grade 9 and stop allowing them to come out of school marked 'failure' and allowing the labor market to take advantage of them.there are many underdeveloped industries in this country that these young people can perform in. Discriminating against someone because he/she is not a 3.0 student is just as bad as discriminating because someone is black.

The fact is the entire island is impacted at some time or other once the dump is set on fire. Cable Beach in the area of Bah Mar seems to be getting severely hit with smoke from this paticular fire, especially at night when the thick smog settles over the area. Many residents are already asleep when this happens and are unaware of what they are breathing all night. So imagine then plight of those residents who are in the fire zone.

***Chucky***; With people like you coming here, it confirms the Bahamas has a need to protect its people and its boarders, hate filled whore mongers plotting from every end...The Haitians may be the least of the Bahmsas worries when it comes to immigration.

**Chucky***, one must assume you are speaking of the country and its people you left to come to the Bahamas from. You're sad.
