Until a full investigation is conducted and completed to determine the true cause of this tragic accident, it would be no less than careless to draw conclusions based solely on presumptions. There have been over 10 air accident over the past year and many of those did not involve alleged hackers or even Bahamian pilots. If laws need to be strengthened and additional checks and balances put in place to avoid accidents, especially tragic ones like this one where six lives were lost, then the minister has already stated his intention to do so. And even while there is certain latitude in the aviation industry, the writer knows in his own conscience, the aircraft industry is far from being slack..The Lynden Pindling airport has to meet minimal requirements to maintain its international certification and aircraft registered or flying to the US must meet safety standards. Yes, there are unanswered questions that hopefully a full and proper investigation will answer and not leave so much to speculation and sensationalism.
The reports is the young who was missing for almost days 10 days has been found and is safe. sorry for the tragic loss of the this other young Bahamian young man.
Well that is the problem on most Family Islands. They do not accept credit or debit cards. And with the banks pulling out it will be more difficult to convince them. But even food stores in New Providence has started to accept the cards. One time they complained that their margins were too low to have to pay credit card fees. But because of their volume the banks were able to offer special rates. And RBC charges a fee if you make large cash deposits (over $2000 ) the counter.
unbelievable! i went to RBC to do a wire transfer around noon on Friday. By the time I got home and emailed the company the receipt the replied right back and said they already had the funds and my order was being processed. Two things come to mind.: competition is good for the business as it will improve the quality of service and drive down the cost. Secondly, maybe RBC is improving its service by moving to a digital platform. They want the long lines to disappear from their banks and this will happen when customers start using atm machines, smart phones and computers to do simple everyday transactions. Eventually this will lead to a cashless economy as all RBC customers now have a credit or debit card. It may take longer in the Family Islands. But the goal is to get 50% of business transactions done without cash.
With the entire smothered in smoke last night many residents may have to go to the emergency department with breathing problems and other ailments. This will put an additional burden on the already overtaxed hospital and since some of the clinics may be adversely affected by thick smoke, they may not see patients this morning.
Tal Russell you should learn to comprehend what you read before you try responding in your usual ignorant way. No one was promoting the burning of the mud or any Shanty town. To the contrary. The message is to be more tolerant and less abusive towards the poor among us. And that was the message Christ promoted. To love your neighbor. And to be your brother’s keeper. As you may not know, Donald Trump has added Haiti to the list of nations from which immigrants will not be accepted into the US. So obviously this will increase the problem with more of them coming here. But we must deal with the problem humanely. Setting fire to people’s houses and leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs is wrong,
Christ himself said ‘the poor will always be with us.’ And some among us bare so much hate and despise for them because it was on their backs they were able to climb.
About the police fatal shooting of a blind man.. hate to say ‘I told you do’. This country must stop adopting the wicked spirit and the wicked ways of the ‘lamb that speaks like a dragon.” Amen!
