While MINNIS and the FNM are trying to take credit for the decrease in crime, more specifically murders, the lull in murders came about because a gang leader and drug smuggler, who may have been responsible for hundreds of murders (authorizing them) was himself murdered. And apparently that portion of the gang he led is without a leader and basically in shambles. So a number of the gang members have went into hiding or otherwise disassociated themselves from the gang. And some who made a living off selling drugs or even carrying out hits (killings) for the gang may be responsible for the recent spate of robberies that are occurring around New Providence. They are seeking other means of income. Crime, especially robbery seems to be the favorite .. If the police were smart, they would move in and prevent this headless gang from regaining a leader and becoming ruthless, violent and murderous again. Every time one of these notorious leaders are killed the murders either decline, until the leader is replaced, or assassination type murders increase as the leader's death is revenged. The police must seek to stamp out gangs completely and parents should ensure that their young sons do not become a part of them.

Thus far the MINNIS led FNM government has been lack lustre and close to disappointing. The continued laying off and terminating of workers is sending shock waves through the economy that is causing it to contract. It is creating more hardship for Bahamians, many who are long suffering and had high hopes in this FNM government making this 'the people's time.' Most people expected by now that Minnis would have introduced a stimulus package that would generate economic growth and more employment. But is appears the reverse is happening. persons are growing weary and fraustrated. Many businesses will close after the Christmas holidays if they cannot pull themselves out of a financial hole they got into this year. A new generation of criminals is being developed. Fix it Minnis!

While it is good that the enhanced controls at the port has generated such profitable results, when is Customs going to extend their revenue enhancing and protection efforts to more lucrative and possible more tax evading ports? Many of the 'private' ports of entry in this country have little or no examinations and they are suspected of entry for high value tax items that the tax is evaded on, as well as the export of fisheries and other such items. One seafood restaurant in New York claims it sells 2,000 pounds of fish that is imported from the Bahamas.

Then this clown tried to mislead the public even more by saying ‘both the regular billing and the surcharge on the bill will be reduced.’ But he quickly added ‘Because the consumer will be using less electricity.’ Do they still have ‘The Gong Show?’ Or one where the audience can toss pies at clowns and losers?

Thus far the Minnis government is batting ZERO when it comes to easing the burden and hardship suffered by many Bahamians. In fact the unemployment numbers may have increased since May. Many businesses are claiming their sales are off 30 - 50 %, banks continue to raise their fees and food prices are in bearable. Then there is the jackass from BPL who took to the air waves claiming that Bahamians can expect lower light bills over the next few months. The key to the story was because of the cooler months Bahamians will be consuming less power and therefore the bills will be lower... no rate reduction like the headline suggests. Like Bahamians are dumb and don’t already expect lower power bills in the winter. Many look forward to them and budget so they can pay off outstanding balances during this period so they can get through the summer months. Businesses especially. But this man hit the news media bringing false hopes with no news.
