Cameras on everything. We must realize that all our actions and even conversations are being monitored And recorded. In fact one of the officers did ask the person recording if he was going to delete the video and not put it on Facebook. Apparently they didn't keep their promise. So the policemen must now pay the consequences for their bad behavior. In the US many police not only have a dash cam in their vehicle but also a body cam. Be professional (and sober) at all times.

While it is good for the new government to 'drain the swamp' , so to speak, and expose wrongdoing and punish those who benefited from such activity, let us hope that there is no foreign agency (or government even) driving this activity, at least to the point where they gain undue influence over the new government. At least not to the point where they attempt to drive their policies and steer their direction where it may be contrary to what the Bahamian people expect and voted for.

John says...

Government should proceed cautiously on any decision that involves the loss of jobs. The Bahamian economy is so depressed and so fragile at present the last thing that needs to happen is more unemployment or more businesses shutting down. There are only a few businesses that are making a profit right now and efforts should be to grow the economy

Tell Obie go apologize to all the vendors that were forced of Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island after he promised them their access to the beach would never be denied. Lying ass! Some vendors were even locked up and jailed trying to defend their rights to rearm a living in the Bahamas. Obie was warned he would regret this come Election Day. See wat you cause!

John says...

@ Oracle: It is not exclusive to The Bahamas. The fact is that politics has become such a dirty nasty game many chose not to become involved in in if only for sake of family. And for so many years those who raided the cookie jar went unpunished like there was no consequences to their actions. No doubt the excessive crime activity stems from the top as it does in many countries. The efforts to drain the swamp has been met with sullen resistance and, in fact, some are threatening revenge if they are ever reelected . That's how entrenched their behavior is.

The government must separate bad governance, poor decision making and wasteful spending due to ignorance from intentional abuse of office and government money, misappropriation and stealing of funds.

When you watch some of the things that are being printed and hear the things the PLP are saying, they still feel they have done nothing wrong. In fact the PLP, vis a vis the likes of Fred mitchel belive they have the only God given right to rule over this country. They are the masters we are the slaves. You can't expect apologies from people who feel they did nothing wrong. In fact they believe the Bahamian voters are wrong for voting against them and should be punished for it. And if you vote them back in office any time soon the real witch hunt will begin.

Greenslade has more murders on his watch than *ALL* the other Commissioners of Police in the Bahamas combined. And with the murder rate up 17% over last year, he cannot present a good case not to get booted. The question is would his replacements be more effective. Without corresponding social and economic support programs and education efforts, the police efforts in the inner cities will not be effective. The basis of crime in these areas stem mostly from breaking down communities, persons with little education and social values, trying to survive in an economy that hardly affords them the opportunity to feed themselves. Some areas don't even have a single mom and pop store anymore (#shoplifters and #armrobbers)

Remember when Pindling use to plant light poles and run miles and miles of electrical wire to settlements in the family islands and do the same with water pipes and phone lines. Just before elections But after the elections and the people did not vote for his party (or in some cases they did vote PLP) the equipment would sit there for years and years. Nothing new under the sun. Leopards do not change ways. In fact one time the PLP put up traffic lights in some family islands in the over the hill areas in Nassau and after the elections they eased those lights down. Then remember how they (PLP) would have the Defense Force guarding the water tanks on Blue Hill Road and the pumping station just off JFK as well as BEC switching stations. All a mind game. And, for the most part it worked.

So many young officers getting caught with guns and/or drugs. Lives wasted. Or maybe this is the road to reducing our crime situation?
