You have one or two incidents like this a year. Several million tourist visits each year. South Florida had 11 shootings on a beach in one incident. Exit interviews indicate that female tourists do come to the Bahamas and The Caribbean looking for sex. Then some cry foul. Consensual sex is not illegal. Give the young men more training. Teach them how to resist temptation. Then let them keep a copy of an agreement to be signed that says 'the sex was consensual '

Just don't get venture capital/business loans from RBC. They will suck you dry, especially if you fall on hard times and they realize you are struggling to keep your business afloat. Cheaper to just give them the keys at that point.

That does not seem sensible at all. if they marked the invoices "UP" it would mean they would have to pay more customs duties and stamp/vat tax. meaning the government would be getting duty of every additional dollar they paid out. Would be cheaper to just apply for a permit to invest overseas

The source claims the target of the break-in was the customs safe that contained cash and receipts. But when they (the robbers) were unsuccessful in removing the safe, they ransacked the entire building. This building is at least twio and a half times the size of an average Supermarket and it must took some time and effort to do all that damage. The unfortunate thing with hiring an alarm monitering service is the owner of the building must still respond . Even if the police are notified of an alarm activation they will not do a thorough check of the building unless the owner shows up. And sometimes the police are in on the deal. I speak from past experiences with them.

The incidence of murder in the Bahamas is up 22%. The detection rate is down and, consequently the conviction rate must also be down. What does this mean in a nutshell? **more persons are committing murders in the Bahamas and getting away with them!** Did Marvin dames put forth any plan to deal with murder other than the same old stuff that does not seem to work? Something comprehensive that will yield positive results. Bahamian people seem to have accepted murder as a way of life. Many jump up in the mornings to watch the news to see, 'who get kill last night.'

Has there really been a genuine effort to empower Bahamians and grow the Bahamian economy locally since Sir Lynden Pindling's Bahamization policy. Seriously now. Bahamians are more disenfranchised than ever before, not only because of the preference given to foreign investors, but the cost of living and the cost of doing business in the Bahamas has gotten so outrageously high, only a few select businesses are making a profit. Many businesses carry on out of habit and only because of other sources of income are they able to survive.

John says...

The problem is too much wealth is already being transferred to foreigners by virtue of government's economic policy. Government, over the years, favored and supported foreign investors over Bahamians, so much so that even the white Bahamians are starting to complain. Not necessarily that the foreigner has a better business plan but because he gets so much more concessions and tax breaks from government that his business is more successful, but on the backs of Bahamian taxpayers. And so if you add up the net worth of the top 20 foreign companies (not even including banks), they are worth more than all the Bahamian businesses combined. Doesn't that make you proud? now add the value of foreign banks. And while foreign businesses should continue to be welcome to do business here,in the Bahama,s government must now extend its policy to advance concessions to Bahamians. And in case you don't know it, many of the superpowers, the US and China, especially are in a race to own up (ok hog up) and control as many assets in The Bahamas, The Caribbean, Africa and central and South America as possible.
