Bahamians need to watch what is going on in the US with Donald Trump. The man is dropping bombs and shooting off misses like mad. He already spent $26 million in travel expenses for himself and hid family in less than 100 days. Obama spent $83 million in 8 years. Obama has taxpayers paying maintenance and security details on three residences. His wife refuses to leave New York and stay in the White House full time. Trump has his estate in Florida that he prefers to use instead of Camp David. Then all his adult children has secret service security. All at the tax payers expense.
Obviously the traffic controllers are headed by someone with an over inflated ego that needs to be pressurized from time to time. Anyone in their right mind does not initiate industrial action against a government after the house of assembly has been dissolved. Virtually all seats of parliament are vacant and even if some agreement was made at this late hour who would it be binding on. And a new government could always chalk it up as "election promises." The person who called the industrial action is definitely unfit to be an air traffic controller.
Perry Christie may have a harder time retaining his seat than Hubert Minnis. And the headine in today's paper confirms Christie realizes he and the PLP are in trouble. People ain't getting fooled, they not falling for the tricks and Christie and The PLP's credibility is just to incredible to fix overnight.
But in reality free electricity is not just a dream. Several cities in the US and around the world have reconfigured their power plants and have become so efficient that they offer customers free electricity during off peak hours. And the cost of electricity has been reduced so much it is in many places less than 1/4 of what we pay here in the Bahamas. But with a debt ridden, antiquated equipment laden, poorly run company, free electricity from BEC in the immediate future is a pipe dream (unless you in the click with Leslie Miller dem).
***The sun was so bright last night, it was too difficult for anyone to sleep.*** just to add to the list of unbelievable statements above. And this shows the desperation of this man, Perry Christie and his rubber bands to stay in power. Have the PLP done anything in five years either to make electricity more affordable or the supply more reliable or more available? If the PM was really serious about the promise of free electricity or even reducing the price of it, why has he bought in a company that opposes Bahamians solarizing their homes or businesses? Over 6,000 Bahamian homes are without power and many have been in that state since the FNM was in power five years ago. five years!. Has the number increased or decreased in the past five years? increased! ***“Additionally, the PLP plans to support more Bahamians seeking entrepreneurship opportunities, from start-up to production, operations, marketing and distribution, by creating a network of business incubators and business development agencies on each island. “Support will include financing and mentoring.”***
How many businesses have closed or went under in the past five years of PLP rule? What efforts, aye, aye, what single effort was made by this government to save or rescue any single one of them or what one single effort was offered to stimulate existing businesses or encourage them to expand... Good ideas, but most likely empty, desperate, election promises.
The only thing the PLP needs to do now is investigate who among its ranks is benefiting from crime and who among the police force may be aiding and abetting criminals. With over 1,100 murders under the same police administration it is time to start with investigating officers who stand over victims dead bodies and claim the person was a prolific offender, or 'he was wearing an ankle bracelet when he was killed' or' he has been recently released from prison'. These statements give reason that the persons making the statements have motives for murder. If even unconsciously so. And beyond that they show prejudice towards the victims of murder and, by their own actions, demonstrate they do not intend or do not have the moral capacity to investigate the victims' murder without prejudice. And based on that premise, the perpetrator of the crime may go unpunished and so the police may be an accessory after the fact. The job of the police is to investigate a crime, preserve the crime scene, collect evidence and to present that evidence to the court, should the perpetrator of the crime be apprehended. Their duty is not to pass judgment on victims of murder or any other crime for that matter. and thereby prejudice the public against them. Upvote0
Some of the politics are controlled by forces outside a country and if the persons in power do not take control, they become mere puppets. For example much of what is going on with the Brazilian economy is being manipulated from outside that country. Venezuela economy has collapsed because of external forces acting on its oil production and refining operations. OIL has been in 🇭🇹 Haiti. More than what is in Venezuela. But because of the current world market where there is a glut, Oil is not being pumped in Haiti. Instead 20,000 troops have been sent to that country to guard the oil fields. More troops than was sent when that country suffered a major and devastating earthquake. And here in the Bahamas our natural resources , like sand and aragonite is being frittered away and no one in government can say how much or why the country is not being properly compensated. There is near a 90% certainty that oil in commercial quantities exist in the Bahamas. And despite agreements being made with foreign companies to explore and eventually drill for oil. The Bahamian people are being kept in the dark. Also more than 90% of street lighting and public spaces can be done by solar. And also a significant portion of home energy needs. Reducing our reliance on oil and the need to import significantly. Yet our government brought in a company to manage our power company that is discouraging the use of solar energy and even trying to make it illegal. WHY?
