They kept Haiti poor, dysfunctional and broken for almost two centuries. The key to ending the illegal immigration problem is to fix Haiti. Can’t depend on those who kept it broken to do it…Fixing Haiti will strengthen the entire Caribbean.
The French needs to repay Haiti all that money it extorted from ii under the pretense of giving it freedom then turned around and blacklisted the country along with The US, Canada Holland and other slave owning countries. Haiti has paid its price a thousand times over for becoming the first Black , most economically powerful free nation in this hemisphere. As for The BaHAMAS, yes this country continues to be to comfortable to be in bed with the masters that enslaved them and the average indigenous Bahamian is slowly but surely slipping deeper and deeper into poverty. Bahamians are owning less and less of their economy and many are just negroes still on a plantation. Not being able to afford but food clothing and shelter and some being only able to afford one or two of the three.
The way to fixing Haiti mayb be through a number of Haitians leaving that country and empowering themselves elsewhere. Equipping themselves with the tools necessary to pull that country up by its shoestrings. But remember Haiti also has natural resources and when government becomes dysfunctional accountability also goes out the window. That includes peoples, persons and things.
Obviously you speak in ignorance. Go and find out who ( countries) is responsible for keeping Haiti in its poor and broken state for almost two centuries.
‘ People just want answers - and our current system is not providing them.’ . In the case of the five Memphis police officers charged with killing a 29 y/o motorist, authorities said they wanted to ensure that the officers were jailed before the video got to the public. That is how horrific some of the footage is of the five officers beating this motorist for three minutes, non stop. And the motorist appears disoriented and not even sure of why he was stopped. . . In the Bahamas no tool, body cams, dash cams etc will be effective as long as police are contiued to be allowed to investigate themselves. At least to the level where someone is seriously injured or dies at the hands of police officers. In most police killings, a police report says ‘the victim brandished a weapon or fired on police officers and the officers, being in fear of their lives returned fire and killed the victim.’ But what do eye witness say? What is captured on the police own body cams? Does it make the matter any more right if a person is murdered by criminals or wrongfully killed by police? Yes, give the police license and freedom to do their jobs. But at the same time keep them accountable and with the understanding that they will be responsible for any wrong-doing.
The law requires that when a person is taking into custody, he is to be kept, not only secure but safe and no harm is to come to him whilst is custody. It is not the duty of a police officer to meet out punishment on a suspect or even on a convict with a rap sheet as long as the Paradise Island bridge, choose either one. That being said, one can understand the frustration that will eventually set in on police officers when they seem to be arresting the same suspects over and over and these suspects, who have crimes, like murder on their rap sheets. The officers face imminent danger from having to come in contact with the same dangerous convict over and over. But by the same token, police officers must be careful not to put their jobs or characters or the integrity of the police force into jeopardy or question by yielding to temptation . And the punishment to the officers can easily become more severe than to the convict.
How much do you think The Bahamas and other countries have spent since slavery ( yes that’s when Haitian migration began) repatriating Haitians? Billions , at least. And what if Caribbean countries can come together and form policies to fix Haiti? Which will include agreements to support the Haitian economy. Rather than spending billions to send Haitians back home, they will turn Haiti into one of the great economic powers in the Caribbean. But guess who do not want that to happen and why?
Stop talking out the wrong side of your body. Haiti is not a failed state. It is being manipulated by two powerful nations. Those are the culprits who need to be brought before the international courts and be heavily sanctioned and pay for the grief and hardships they continue to cause in Haiti. Don’t believe the US when they say they don’t want Haitians. They want tge crème de la crème. And Lao to continue to leave Haiti in a poor and destitute state
There are three police officers and two paramedics recently charged with the death of an 18 y/o teen in the US. The boy was walking not far from his home when cops pulled up on him. There was a confrontation and paramedics were called. They injected the young boy with drugs, then strapped him, face down, on the gurney and took him to the emergency room. He arrived unresponsive and never gained consciousness after that.
The US experienced thirty nine mass shootings in 2022 and with two mass shootings within 24 hours, it appears 2023 will also be a record year. Point is gun violence is out of control and until the violence hits home, nothing will be done to curb it. Ninety percent of weapons used in mass shootings in the US are legal. Police shootings in the US have declined because officers now know they have to account and can face jail terms for wrongful deaths.
