Why has Perry Chrisite become so obsessed with Hubert Minnis? Well despite the bold brazen and shameless act of gerrymandering the numbers are still not showing that the PLP has a clear victory in the next election. Even their own polls cannot confirm majority seats for them and so the PM is having panic attacks. He is less than anxious to ring the election bell. Chrisite has more running on this election than any other politician and a loss will obviously be a definite and finite end to his political career. It may even spell more problems for the Pm as more and more information comes out during the campaign about some of the PLP dealings that may not have been on top of the table. Christie fears that Minnis will not be as forgiving, about the dirt that was done under the PLP, and so he is trying his best to discredit Minnis even before the campaign officially begins. Why is the country so financially strapped, even after this government collected so much taxes? Bahamians have been sold out. Even *Lying* Halkitis cannot say where the money gone.
Perry Christie's stock value has fallen significantly since his world famous finger gesture. But what is even more significant is that some of the revelations and allegations against the pm and other high ranking members of his cabinet that pushed the pm over the edge may be ccredible. Forget all the personal stuff, but Many sensible Bahamians are starting to look more closely at the Christie government and what they have done to this country in the past five years. For example how is it that Christie and his government collected more tax revenues than any other government in recent history. They carried out very little capital works, but yet they are operating in deficit and the national debt has ballooned?
Maybe it is time to do a "tax embargo" against the government, either until they be more accountable and truthful about our taxes or until after elections. Only pay those taxes that are absoultely necessary to be paid and reduce your imports and consumption as much as possible. Cut back on your driving to save gas, your electricity usage, your purchases of consumer goods and even food for the next two and a half months or until you get answers as to where your tax monies are going and who is really behind the crime and especially murder in this country. Is it a diversion to keep us blinded to what is really going on. Is it an attempt to increase our misery index and keep us divided and warring with each other while foreigners invade and take over our country economically? Then vote your conscience.
VAT was never intended to be an 'additional ' tax but, instead it was supposed to replace customs duties and stamp tax and several other taxes as a part of tax reform. Customs duties is considered a barrier to trade and was supposed to be done away with. But it was the PLP's government decision to run customs duties and VAT parallel to each other, not realizing the damage they were doing to the economy by increasing the tax burden so drastically. The cost of living is too high and still continues to increase. The cost of doing is also to high and taxes are too burdensome. Two things the government needs to fix if it is to become financially sustainable: it must account for all tax revenues and how they are spent. Corruption and incompetence cannot be the order of the day. You cannot force heavy taxes on the Bahamian people then squander or fritter the tax money away. And government must also stop the duel system of taxation. A system where unknown foreign companies can come here and get crown land, and concessions and tax breaks while Bahamians are expected to pay every penny owed to government. No crown land no tax breaks and no concessions. The foreign companies export all their profits and further drain the economy. And when they made enough spot had enough they close shop or sell the company, then skip town owning the government and the Bahamian people millions in unpaid taxes, NIB payments. Electricity etc. Fix that too
Rodney Moncur has pledged allegiance to Perry Christie and rather than chastising him for his inappropriate behavior he went on Facebook and repeated the PM's obscene gesture and vowed to defend Christie to the end. Then he attacks anyone who calls for the PM to apologize. Furthermore Moncur's "go to the beach" actions are hypocritical. On the one hand he is telling Bahamians not to register and not to vote. Yet he accepted a position in the Senate after being appointed by someone who was duly elected to political office by the same process he is denouncing. The height of hypocrisy. If you don't want to plant no seeds, you should not eat no corn.
Well it is said that God appoints governments and he dismantles them. With the on goings and the goings on in the past several days, weeks months even, it appears that some divine ipower is intervening in the government of the Bahamas and directing the upcoming election. It is further said that peoples do not get governments they vote for but governments they deserve.
Ingraham will admit that the stop, review and cancel policy was not the right thing to do, especially in a time of economic downturn. It's not a matter of placing blame but merely to show how much more can be accomplished when government changes and programs and plans met in place are continued or discontinued based on their merits and not the fact they were plans from the side opposite. For example even though Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly admits that they have no plan that will replace Obamacare, he has already signed an executive order to dismantle the plan, possibly leaving millions without health insurance.
