Lights have been off for over 24 hours now. Thought the ourpise of BPL having a controlled shut down was to bring the system back up as soon as possible
This storm taught you the fragility of life be bit humans animals or trees and plants. Once the hurricane strength winds started there was nothing one could except hunker down, pray and lend yourself to the mercy of mother nature. Every time you manage to look outside the winds seem to grow stronger and something had disappeared or was being destroyed. And that misty whitevrain. The winds were so strong it was like the clouds themselves had come down to earth and was being blown away. What an experience!
Turn this company back over to Bahamian management. More than 12 hours after the storm and the entire city is still dark. These people are inexperienced incompetent and generally lousy
Many people did not heed the advice and abandon their homes on the southern coast. Many were calling for help and rescue even as the surge was up to two story floors. Roof blew off a church in Andros being used as a hurricane shelter even before the storm arrived. It was a terrible experience. And now we wait for power to be restored
You must commend Bahamians! Most heeded the call and got prepared for the hurricane. More importantly they were orderl and well Behaved. The shoppers were patient and supportive giving each other advice and information. Then when the time came the streets were deserted and everyone went home or to their designated shelter and hunkered down.
The FOURTY inches of rain predicted for Haiti is correct. Three feet of rain. That is because this is a slow moving system. A big concern for the Bahamas will be sea surge that can last for hours along with heavy rains.
What type of country are we living in? Really? One of the most major hurricanes in a decade is headed our way and half the power is off. Phone and Internet service with BTC is in and out and no one seems to have taken the decision to alert Bahamians and residents so that they will take this storm seriously and get prepared!
