> ***“China Export-Import Bank expressed their support for the Bahamian provisional liquidation process, and (we understand from those instructing us) had provided assurances to the Government of the Bahamas that should the Chapter 11 process fall away, funding would follow, as would the resumption of work,” Charles Russell Speechlys’ memorandum said.

#Neither of these two “assurances” has yet to materialise, with China Export-Import Bank, especially, seemingly reluctant to invest another cent in the Baha Mar project.***

Then remove the impediments and allow izmirilian to proceed with chapter 11.

Perry and his gang are starting to panic because they seem to be getting nowhere with Bah Mar. After suffering a resounding defeat of the referendum they feel the same thing may happen Election 2017. If the PLP loses, then of course there will be an investigation into the business of Bah Mar. The real reason why it is not open. And those government officials who had contracts with the property, who rented store spaces and restaurants etc. Of course if Perry Christie loses this will be his last lap around the political track. He will be past or near 80 when election comes around in 2022 and, saving a miracle, he will have to leave the spotlight with the biggest political blunder in the history of Bahamian politics. Bah Mar is sitting on 4billion of the Bahamian people's property. And they could barely get jobs while construction was going on. Now this government seems to be greased to give bah mar even more goodies. What about all the other anchor properties that got hundreds of millions in Bahamian property and concessions and are still sitting idle years after the heads of sgreement has been signed?

The question then is how did the bill get to "over $5,000? Some businesses have their power disconnected for under $500. BEC sends its disconnectors around every two weeks in some areas and if the owners are not around, they cut the supply off. One of BEC's managers claim that this is a policy put in place by the Hubert Ingraham admistration based on advise given by a team of foreign consultants. It was discontinued or more lax while Leslie Miller was at the corporation. But now it's back in force. Some feel it is a scam be the dis connectors and their supervisors to make extra money for first disconnecting then reconnecting persons power supply.

It is patently clear that the Chinese wanted to wrestle Bah Mar out of the hands of Izmirilian. Their intentions are not clear but it is a dangerous thing for them to be holding the keys to two of the biggest properties in New Providence (Bah Mar and The Pointe). The Chinese seems to be having their way with the government and every time Perry Christie opens his mouth on the matter he appears to be a chronic liar or fully lost about what's going on with Bah Mar or both. If the Chinese had agreed to complete Bah Mar at least a year ago then they should be held to their agreement. If they are made to invest additional monies in the project then they may speed up the process of selling the property so it can open. Give them a deadline to commence work and another to have the property sold. If they fail them remove all legal barriers from Izmirilian getting his Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware and let him complete and open Bah Mar. The Chinese both bank and construction company has proven without a shadow of doubt that they are the ones responsible for Bar Mar missing deadlines and not yet being open. Why continue to punish Izmirilian if he has proven all his intentions were good. Even if the property is sold to another owner and eventually opened, the courts may rule in his favor and return the property back to Izmirilian or cause him to be compensated for his losses. Maybe that is why no one is anxious to jump in to the Bah Mar saga with both feet.

The fact is that BEC has been "killing people" with outrageously high electricity bills for decades. While the government may bring immediate relief to 'poor Bahamians' by offering them electricity relief, this does not fix the problem. The cost of electricity must come down. It drives the price of other consumer goods. Lowering the cost of energy will bring down the much needed cost of living for everyone.

Donald Trump is blaming Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton for causing the Brits to vote in favor (should I say favour) of leaving the EU and leading to the resignation of the British PM. According to Trump, Obama, a friend of the PM, encouraged the British to vote in favor is staying in the union and Hillary Clinton did the same thing in a recent address. Trump who was visiting the UK said he could not tell the British how to vote. He left it up to them. Unlike our own referendum, where the government sponsored the 'yes' campaign and the PM was personally involved to the point of visiting polling stations. This caused a resounding defeat of all four bills. Not only does the PM not resign, but members of government are making personal attacks on private citizens who were NOT in favor of the bills. So what ever happened to freedom of choice at the polls and otherwise?

Christie's biggest worry right now is that Election 2017 does not go hopelessly wrong (for himself and the PLP.). They have to many pots of uncooked food on the fire and they know what will happen to those pots if they lose the election. This is a more educated electorate, a more rlhight ended electorate, a less tolerant electorate, a less forgiving voter, so those politically have just one chance and in very few instances two, to get it right. And if Christie gets kicked in his political backside in 2017 that will be it. The fat lady will have sung and "ole man winter ". Will be recruiting full time. Now what was this post about again?

If Perry Christie bid you good morning these days, take your rain coat, umbrella and snow boots when you go out. And if you staying home, keep the hurricane shutters handy.

In the government's favor is that several criminals convicted of murder received very heavy but deserving sentences late last year and some this year. Some got jail time of 55 years. And this is when a downward trend started in the murder rate. Once criminals get the clear and decisive message that they will never see freedom if they plan and commit a murder, hits or assassinations, and they get swift justice, the killings will stop for certain.
