My answer to you is I have been Bahamian all my life. I pledge allegiance to no other country. I live here under which ever government the people of the Bahamas choose to elect. I will not buy into any dirty, nasty slimy plot to destroy the government of this country regardless of who perpetrates it. We have a serious problem with murder and serious crime in this country. What message you are sending to young people when you tell them through screaming headlines that the DPM of the country is involved in a conspiracy to commit multiple murders??
There is always three sides to a story: your side, my side and the truth. That is why we have courts. That is why we have trials. I am sure that every person who donated large sums of money to political parties in this country, or anywhere in the world, for that matter had ulterior motives. The fact that Nygard did not get what he expected from this government, with only one year left in their term confirms that his money did not buy the government. Nygard does not have the power y'all proporting him to have in this country. Then one was also ask if Bacon, Fred Smith et. al., ever made campaign contributions, without certain expectations.
Many business people can sympathize with Mr. Roberts frustration over what appears to be the police's unwillingness to act on certain crimes committed against businesses. One store that closed two years ago had 16 break-ins in one year. Despite installing alarms and alerting the monitoring company alert the police, the break-ins continued. Just before the business closed the owner was assured by the police that they were on the scene after the store alarm was activated and that, 'everything at that establishment was ok." However when the owner got to the store some 30 minutes later, the store was visibly broken into and thousands of dollars in merchandise was stolen. The police promised an investigation but up until the time the store closed nothing was reported. In another incident a store was broken into and nearly $20,000.00 in cell phones and other electronic equipment was stolen. The store owner got certain information as to who did the break-in and gave the police the details. No action was taken by the police even it after it became public knowledge as to who broke into the store. The owner said over the fowling few weeks he observed a bus marked 'prosecutions' parked in front of the house where the suspects lived. Then in another incident a lady called police for an employee she suspected had stolen goods from her store that he had access to as an employee. She was told by the officer in charge of the police station that unless she had proof that the employee stole the goods, she was only wasting the police time." She told the officer that she wanted the matter investigated and his response was that she, 'put cameras inside your establishment before you accuse people." So the problem is not exclusive to Mr. Roberts and Super Value. Many businesses do not even bother to call the police when they have internal crimes committed in their business or even when there is shoplifting. The culture of the police seem to be to let these businesses handle their own problems while the police deal with more 'serious' matters. But in the instance where the security officer was accused of beating person caught shoplifting at a local pharmacy, he was charged and was shot dead a few months after the incident..not saying the two incidents (the shoplifting and the shooting) were related but they could be.
This whole fiasco stinks to God's high heavens! and until the facts are revealed (no you don't pay people to tell the truth, especially known criminals). And If I was PM the persons filing the lawsuits would have left they country by now, and not to return until the lawsuit was settled. Can you imagine inviting or allowing a guest in to your home and he files a lawsuit against you and your family while he is in your home.
Time for the Bahamas to follow this example. Export all those foreigner who are creating political mischief, denying Bahamians their rights to beaches and those involved in violent crimes especially and car theft and arson and the destruction of government property. Unfortunately the gover of the Bahamas does not have the power and political clout to force countries to take their criminal and meddling citizens back.
I'm willing to bet the two "gangsters" purporting to be friends (very close friends) of the DPM do not exist. The characters in the video probably always worked for Bacon and will never make an appearance in court. This whole affair pisses the average Bahamian off more than anything else. It begs the question as to why would a person who has so much wealth and the ability and resources to relocate to any country in the world stay in s country where he is seemingly unhappy with everyone who is not on his payroll. Why would he engage in what appears to be an attempt to topple the government of that country or in the least pervert justice? What should he expect the hospitably of the government of that country to be when all is said and done?
Answer me this with a simple yes or a simple no: if two gangsters that appear in the video claim they were very close friends of the DPM and Bacon's clan claims it convinced and paid (bribery) them to work for them can you believe anything these persons say? anything???
