There is still too much smoke and suspicion around these bills for persons to understand their intention purpose. Many Bahamian women will not vote in favor because their Christian principles teaches them that man is head of the household and consequentially the women. And there is no suppression in this country. A large number of men will not be voting period because they don't want to be held responsible for changing laws that will open up doors to other controversies and those who vote , except gays, will vote against it. The country is just not ready for this legislation. Maybe in another 5 - 10 years. Of course there are external forces pushing for the passage of these bills. Will they use the opening of Cuba to force passage? The US already has 110 daily flights planned to that island country. But will they get the Cuban government to pass these same laws?

To put it in simple basic terms : If Perry Christie was the judge and the PLP was the jury and Zakis Izmirilian was on trip. He would now be falsely imprisoned. And not for the lack of his evidence, but for the lack of the preponderance of it.

Subtle and disquised racism is the worst kind. What do any of you Trump clowns know about Africa? Or is it he same one clown chasing his shadow?

Can someone say, with certainty, if, since taking possession of Bah Mar, China EXIM bank is making payments foe electricity, taxes and other local expenses associated with Bah Mar?

The real headline is : ***PM: Postphone Convention Until After`Referendum And (hopefully) Bah Mar And Convention Facilities Will Open By Then*** (for us to have we convention and show off there).

If this and what is on the front page of "***The Punch*** today is correct then the government of the Bahamas, led by Perry Christie did a serious injustice to Sarkis Izmriilan and further allowed him to be taken advantage of by China Construction Company and the China EXIM Bank. The fact that Bah Mar is not open today sits squarely on their shoulders because not only did they act in error against Bah Mar, but they teamed up with China EXIM Bank and China Construction Company to wrestle control of the property from its owner and only to have it sit there, idle and incomplete and as the dirt begins to blow in the wind, the eye of the Bahamas continue to be darkened and the government comes across as being severely incompetent in this entire matter and/or they are a group of modern day pirates who suckered an innocent investor to bring his millions to the Bahamas, then allowed him to be lured into shallow waters (Baja Mar in Spanish) where he became shipwrecked and was robbed. Izmirilian was crying from 2013 that the construction company was doing shoddy work, that they did not have enough workers and that they were responsible for the property missing several opening dates. Now there are claims that some $800 million is unaccounted for. Where did the money go? This government should be made to resign forthwith but the operators of China Bank and china construction company may face an even greater punishment.

While they deserve credit for making attempts to detect, combat, and punish criminals don't you feel the crime stoppers slogan, 'report the crime before it is your time", is offensive? What does it mean to,'report the time before it is your time?' Does it mean that once you are a bBahamian and once you reside in the Bahamas you will become an victim of crime and even more so if you don't report crimes you know of?

a major cause for concern: as the number of murder suspects continue to increase at The Department of Corrections along with the number of persons being sentenced for murder there should be major cause for concern about the security at this institution and the safety of the average citizen in this country, New Providence especially. The recent escape of a murder convict confirms this is real. There has been close to 1,000 murders in the Bahamas (if not more) and while the detection rate and the number of convictions is under 50 percent and 30% respectively, there is a growing prison population of murderers and murder suspects. The number of murders for this year (around 17) confirms that the number is not yet on a dramatic decrease. Persons facing 40 years to life imprisonment has little to lose (in their minds) and as their numbers increase the probability of escape (even en masse), especially when they may have to be transported through the city from time to time. There is a great need for forward planning especially as the time spent in prison increases, these convicts become more angry and more desperate .
