The hardest hit were those who were drawn in to invest when the bank was faring well under the FNM government. It became a billion dollar institution and like asiseeit so truly laments: the government took a (Bahamian) gold bar and turned it into dirt.

Ps Cuba is opening up to the US. It will be interesting to see what happens with its crime and culture and lifestyle in general over the next 5 years.

The appetite for materialism is not one that was born out of Black culture. If you understand the destruction of Chicago and Detroit and other major, predominantly Black metropolitan inner cities in the US you would know that most of it was underhandedly planned and international. As the powers that be realized that Blacks would be given equal rights which would mean more income, they devised more ways for Black persons to destroy themselves, their income and each other. Hence many of those who produced and promoted the rap and hip hop music were not black. This music promoted the "bling bling" lifestyle, the drug and gun culture, the guns and violence, the baby daddy syndrome, infidelity and even the habit of going to jail for fame. It spilled over into the Bahamas a the Caribbean. The leaders of these countries were distracted. Their treasuries and natural resources raided and now we all stand like the emperor with no clothes. But we must soften our hearts and make our way back to God to cover our nakedness and restore again. Man alone can no longer fix the problems of this world. Their hearts are too hardened their claws are too greedy and they refuse to be their brothers ' keeper.

There not only needs to be a war declared on guns but a war declared on the gun mentality. The desire to tote arms and bare weapons. unfortunately our neighbors to the North want to move in the opposite direction. They want to arm more of their citizens, legally so that not only will they be able to protect themselves from local violence, but be armed in the event of terrorist attacks. Our (Bahamas) gun toting culture does not stem from a desire to protect oneself legally from criminals but is predicated on thug life, goon squads, illegal and antisocial behavior. This is what needs to be dealt with. And in the swiftest and most severe manner possible. Else the good citizens will have to protect themselves, their families and their property by any means necessary

While the murder count started over (from zero), the murder rate continues at what is was in December 2015. During the last days of Fecember the country was averaging one murder every two days. Thus far for January 3016, there has been a murder every day for a count of three. This is unsettling . Beyond scary. Governmet needs to meet with its spiritual advisers and advise the country accordingly. It will obviously get worse before it gets better. It is not politics it is national security. The government has the responsibility to keep its citizens and visitors safe. There needs to be some intervention before the police has to yellow tape the crime scene. "If my people, who are called by my name, (Bahamians are Christians) shall humble themselves and pray, then shall I hear from heaven and heal their land". The watchmen (police included) who watches the city without God does so in vain.

THe spine c h i l l i n g truth! While we sit and ponder the murder rate and blame the young people for the level of mayhem, blood shed, carnage and lawlessness in the country, do you know that high profile persons are involved in violent crime in this country, lawyers included? Not only in the supply of guns but one attorney has been advising his clients to 'eliminate' certain witnesses when he felt they could not beat the charges against them. In a recent matter a client hired a hit against a certain witness. After the 'hit men' found out the real reason for the hit they planned to retaliate on the "client" because the young man they killed was innocent. But they were also killed before they could carry out their plan. Now the "client" is falling apart at the seams. Family members have distanced themselves from him, so he is now in the habit of sitting in bars and after a few drinks 'singing' his story to anyone who will listen. The attorney, himself is not faring too well either as one of his family members was brutally murdered earlier this year. But yet he continues to represent high profile criminals. The client will be revealed in 2016 by his own undoing, and he will expose his lawyer to the public for his dirty deeds. I told you since June the murder count was going to be 150 and on Novemnber 27, I revised that count to 148. These people will be exposed. God is not asleep. John 3:16

Besides the effects of VAT, high unemployment and the increased costs of living in the Bahamas, one cannot discount the increase in gambling since it has been legalized. If its value was pegged at $1 billion at the start of the year it has definitely grown by 25% to a $1.25 billion industry. This is a serious leakage or drain on the economy when you compare the winnings to what is being spent by those who gamble.. The hundreds of jobs the industry creates is peanuts compared to the revenue the numbers shops rake it. And most of this money does not immediately find its way back into the economy.

Our laws are based on precedents. No one can explain why Ninety was taken out of the Bahamas in the middle of the night and only days before his appeal was to be heard. Some suggest that the Then PLP government was returning a favor to the United States for the support it got in toppling the Ingraham led FNM government. Whatever the reason, Knowles is now incarcerated in the US. He has time on his hands, lots of it, and so he wants to test the legal waters. Whatever the outcome, a precedent will be set for future matters. Litigation is not inexpensive in the US but many claim Knowles has money. One mystery is why the US government was not named as party to the lawsuit. Because if it's money he wants, they are the ones most capable of paying a settlement.
