This is also a clear indication that government needs to put more effort, energy and resources in to pre-police activities to stem this monster of violence and murder and rescue young men from activities from the eventual fate of becoming a hardened criminal, a serial murder. It is now obvious that the gangs have penetrated the school system and are recruiting and influencing young males, especially, into anti-social, criminal and violent behavior. They must be identified and dealt with before it gets to this. just look at the number of young men (under 18) who are flashing gang signs in favor of the person who, also a minor< is involved in this tradegy. A no nonsense force must now go into every junior high and senior high school and give warnings to students to give up their gang membership and stop gang activities, gang banging, grand auto theft, murder robberies. Then after sufficient warning and pleading is done a strike force must go in and removed all students who are involved in gangs and furthermore debrief them to identify which gang(s0 they are involved in, who recruited them to the gang(s) and who are the leaders of those gangs. Then go after the big fish, as the law permits. The quickest way to kill a snake is to attack its head.

As the murder count climbs steadily to 153 (yes there abouts) for 2015, this is a clear and definite message that murder in this country is not just bad boys killing bad boys; gang members killing other gang members. It could have been anyone who stopped at that light that night or any other place on this island and met with a similar fate. This wound, this senseless killing is felt by an entire school and will forever change the lives of so many young people, who must experience the sting of death when the joy of their lives is just beginning. They must live under grey skies now when they should be seeing blue skies filled with sunshine. The sting of death is so permanent . The need for murder so unnecessary. How long, O Lord, how long?

The real dominio effect of the stalled Bah Mar project will be felt well into the new year as persons and companies lower on the totem pole feel the effects of their services being terminated abruptly and/or their not being paid for services rendered. And every day the property sits idle the greater the cost will be to get it open. Not only is there depreciation and deterioration physically, but the Bah Mar brand itself has lost value and, in fact, may be no more. Even if the China bank decides to go ahead and complete the project, it may not make it more marketable, considering the world turmoils. And to leave it just sitting there, burning BEC electricity at whose expense. Had Bah Mar been allowed to go into bankruptcy protection (chapter 11) it may have been open now, or at least by Christmas.

John says...

poor management and no forward planning results in astronomical expenses. BEC should be on an equipment replacement cycle where it's engines are upgraded/replaced on a cyclical basis and everything does not become old all at once. The new thing in power generation is extended solar power using sea salt. Large tanks are filled with salt and water and the tanks are heated using solar panels. As the salt heats up it produces electricity and continues producing electricity for several hours w/o sunlight. The value of salt just doubled. A similar plant uses solar energy to heat up oil to 400 degrees, rather than burning it. The heated oil puts off energy that again is converted to electricity.

Put the Tribune and Guardian side by side today and see why we have a crime problem we can't seem to fix.

Maybe Disney could help the government get the Blue Hills Park open. It been sitting there near completion (lie bah mar) for nearly a year.

What does the Blue Hills Park and Bah Mar have in common? They both sit idle, near completion, but unused and unoccupied... being victims of the elements, prone to deterioration. and vandalism...for almost a year resources sitting idle, going wasted the elements and vandals eating into the newness and the usefulness..dry rot and decay..sun faded painted surfaces..weeds overtaking the landscape... in the case of Blue Hills park ..its the people's money just sitting not idle..but falling into disrepair.

When you look at what our consecutive governments made (chump change) compared to the resources (natural and unnatural) that they gave away, then you must really wonder who is pulling the strings and if the young men dying en masse in this country are only pawns on a chess board....fatherless children mostly and the offspring of mostly husbandless and defenseless women...

France declared that it is at war with those who have declared war (acts of terrorism) on its citizens. Hence they have pulled out all the stops. In the case of the Bahamas it is a case of Bahamians killing Bahamians. Young men, obviously misguided, losing their lives and freedoms, while those who hide in the background and instigate go free. The average age of persons being killed and being charged with murder has remained constant over the past 20 years (most in their late teens, early 20's). What does that tell you? the game ain't change but the players are changing.
