Take the numbers a bit further: Some 1140 persons have been killed in the past ten years, (604 in the past 5 years and 536 in the 5 years prior). Assuming a detection rate of 60 percent, only 604 of the persons who committed 1140 murders have ever been arrested and charged with the crime. Only about 20% of the murder cases make it to court each year, meaning about 230 of the persons who committed murder in the past 10 years have been brought to trial. And assuming a conviction rate of 70 percent (being liberal), about 160 of them have been convicted. So where is the other ***980 murderers*** who have killed in the past 10 years? So know you know why the murder count is increasing at an alarming rate. Many of the killers are still on the streets.
He saying not to politicize crime but isn't he the one doing it. So many persons are getting robbed in the regular life routine today that much of it goes unreported. Cars broken into in shopping center and church parking lots. Security beaten and tied up on construction sites and building materials stolen. Even clothing getting t'ief of people's clothesline.
Don't forget Lyford cay and the many private vessels that answers that port. Also in the Northern Bahamas, not only Bimini, focus must not only be on goods that are entering the country but fisheries and other items that are being exported.
I say these execution style killings should evoke the death penalty. Fast track the case to the courts and hang the pepertrators.else there will be no one left standing. How long can this small country withstand wholesale assisinations?

***Year to date, for 2015, there were 183 applications for bail for murder and manslaughter,” she said. “Now when I say applications for bail, I don’t mean obviously there were 183 murders. What that means is, people coming before the courts, they may come several times, they may ask for a variation, etc, so 183 appearances before the court. Of those appearances, there were eight bails granted for murder***.
The murder record for this country is about to be broken a few days. And based to the current trend of 12.53 murders a month, The Bahamas could easily record 153 murders by December 31, 2015. And the most Keith Bell could do is try to politicize the matter and blame the opposition; no solution for the crime, no sympathy, no compassion for the victims. But if that does not bother you the meditate on this; The murder rate in this country is increasing at an increasing rate! It can easily go up to 180 next year if nothing is done. That is 15 murders a month. At least government should (publicly) consider hanging persons convicted of more than one murder, while they figure this out. And make life more difficult for those convicted of murder. Otherwise young men between the ages of 17 and 45 may as well start painting bulls- eyes on their foreheads. Yes it is that serious.
Bell has been accredited with introducing a certain culture on the police force when he was an officer. That culture still exists today and many believe it contributes significantly to the increase in serious crime. It is a renegade form of swift justice carried out by police officers.
Weather he flipping radar was working or not the government and the meteorological department FAILED the People of the Bahamas and the people in the Southern Bahamas in particular!!! If you are the pilot of a jetliner and you lose your instruments, you should be qualified to do a visual tower assisted landing. If you are a true weather man and you lose your equipment when a life threatening storm is pending, you don't just sit on your hip and do nothing. What or where is your back up plan? You contact nearby stations and moniter other instruments. But you get the warnings and information out to the people. So what did you do, abandon them and leave them to get washed out to sea and drown or get whip lashed by 140 miles an hour winds because you want to get a message to the government that your Doppler needs to be replaced?
