Does anyone smell a rat? Wonder who's cooking. While Bah Mar has come to a complete standstill and sits baking in the sun guess what : Ground gas been broken for The Pointe Plaza to go up down town and the Lucayan Hotel in Freeport has announced plans for expansion (it's one of the very few full service properties in Freeport that remain open. What do both of these properties have in common? They are both owned by Izmirilian! And you thought you smelled Chinese food!
Apparently you do not understand bankruptcy laws or how they work. Izmirilian, the owner of Bah Mar is not broke. He is just refusing to pump any more money in to the project under the terms and conditions the Chinese are forcing on him. He filed chapter 11 to prevent the Chinese from taking what was already invested in the project, but the government, for whatever reasons, took of fence to his actions and chose to side with the Chinese and force Izmirilian out. Do you think anyone in their right minds would continue to invest under a government that acted so wild, Wild West, so viligante and even communist?
O what a tangled web we weave who was it first we intended to deceive ? Small lies and deceptions has led to an international embarrassment a multi national scandal, the largest property in the Bahamas sitting incomplete and unoccupied, thousands of Bahamians unemployed and now a significant threat to the country 's credit rating.
Give it three months and we shall see what the real unemployment statistics are. If the intent of carnival was to bump them up temporarily that will level out and if there is no Bah Mar by December the unemployment figures will be 18% unchallenged.
Remember Izmirilian is not broke. Bah Mar is in bankruptcy not Izmirilian. So he can afford to play the waiting game and he can afford the legal wrangling. At the end of the day it is Bahamians who suffer. It is the Bahamian government that has egg on its face. Despite it all the project went nonstop to 97% completion. There was never complaints of funding from the China construction company until the project completion was delayed a second time and there was talks and apparent damage due to shoddy work. Is Izmirilian really the culprit?
Worse case scenario: Lets say Izmilirian has had enough and has now decided to 'bail out' and seek relief through the British courts. Then the government tries to finish Bah Mar using tax payers money and also try to open and operate it until a buyer is found They will sink this country so deep in debt due to incompetence, nepotism, corruption and cronyism all of us will be trying to get on a lifeboat to the nearest coast line. The China Construction Company and The China Bank may not be too quick to come forward to take the project over so as not to make the obvious more obvious, or they may be legally barred from doing so. To find some individual or company with the finances and experience to run an operation as big as Bah Mar will not take just five days. According to Donald Trump, all the hotel/casino properties in Vegas are filing for bankruptcy because business is so bad they are losing millions. A Nassau operation will be more difficult to turn a profit. DId the government nudged on by the Chinese kill the goose that laid the golden egg?
Well imagine if these retards bring NHI in January! That will mean an additional 6% in costs to Employers in a matter of months (40% increase in minimum wage, 10% increase in national insurance and 6 % in NHI, not to mention the costs in the implementation of VAT and the costs of accounting for it. So when you see a corresponding 50% increase in the costs of goods and services and/or a significant decrease in employment and a substantial increase in the number of businesses closing then you know because I told you so.

Ok so prices may not increase by 50%. But they will go up between 15 and 35 % based on what percentage labor costs is of gross sales/turnover.
