It is unusual for a construction company to bring a project this far along, then fumble on the completion. Regardless of the underlying problems and conflicts, their credibility and reputation is on the line on the world stage. But least we forget the road building company, Jose Cartolones, came here after being fired and kicked out of Jamaica. They managed to finish the work here but over a year late and $100 million over budget
So you call a one world government system a game fantasy or foolishness. Do you know that one percent of the worlds population already owns more than half the world's wealth? Can you honestly say that you can see what you have been working for over the past 5-8 years? Why have so many people bought air conditioners and flat screen tv's but can't afford to turn them on on a regular basis. The country's national debt is $5 billion. Who do we know this to? Is servicing this national debt in reality a tax for living in the Bahamas? How much did it diminishe your quality of life, especially when the country did not receive value for much of the money that was spent.
while government is chiding the over performance of vat, did it take into account that VAT revenues will decline in the second and third quarter of 2015? And possibly even a slight decline in Q4, 2015. We must remember that when VAT came into effect January 1, 2015 all retail/wholesale businesses had inventory on hand on which they did not pay VAT at the border. So when these businesses did their filings during the first quarter they had very little tax credits to claim from government. As they draw down this inventory and begin to replace it they will be able to claim more VAT credits when they file. Hence the total VAT revenue will decline. This may not be significant for food stores and restaurants that carry a 30-60 day supply of inventory but car companies and other stores that carry more durable items carry inventory for 6 months and even up to a year. So government may not be able to say what its true annual VAT revenue will be until after 2nd Quarter filings 2016, all other things being equal.
Is the Bahamas being prepared for the New a World Order or the one world system of government? Our tax system is being changed to be compatible with other countries, most of our national assets (bec btc Cable national stadium water corp) are being aligned with international companies. Our middle class is being eliminated (the new world order will only have an elite (chosen) and a working class) and many believe the national health insurance plan is a part of a bigger plot to get every person on the planet on an international register. They will tell you you will need to be registered to receive world wide coverslip of your health insurance. Then will come the implanting of a chip somewhere on your body, that they claim is to reduce fraud and prevent anyone from using your identity. But it will be able to track you anywhere on the planet and may one day even be interactive. Meaning they will be able to "shut down person who have ankle monitoring bracelets and even give persons their medication remotely. It can eliminate a person if necessary. No it's not far fetched and it ain't far either.
Many people do not realize that VAT is supposed tio replace customs duties as the governments major source of revenue. The VAT and customs are only supposed to run concurrently during the transitional phase and once government decides that the VAT tax is workable, then determines the rate it needs to charge then customs diuties and stamp tax is supposed to be eliminated completely. Business licence fees are supposed to be eliminated or reduced. The advantage of vat is unlike customs duties that are collected at the ports of entry, VAT attaches itself to all economic activity in a country. As economic activity increases, so does revenue from VAT, and when an economy becomes too depressed, government has the option of increasing the VAT rate to get its revenue. Apparently the government seems to want to fall in love with this dual system of taxation and the additional revenue it is producing. This will not be a good thing in the long term as it will cause a lot of economic activity to dry up, especially if there is no real growth in the economy. Then the cost of carrying the dual tax system will weigh heavily on the revenues collected.
Bran says he does not know weather his party will spoil it for the PLP or FNM in the next election. But the handwriting is on the wall. Clearly written. While the FNM is still grappling with a leadership change that have left some members concerned over the leadership style of the two Huberts, the PLP seems to have embarked on a massive (and costly) public relations campaign to win back not only its own disgruntled supporters, but support for the PLP government in general. Of course having access to the country's public purse makes this an essy feat as they can clearly label all their actions under "a caring government ", or building a stronger Bahamas. When a dog is really he does not care which hand feeds him and human nature is not much different. Bran is fortunate to have the capacity to finance his DNA party almost single handedly and this creates a problem for the FNM, who must now offer the DNA leadership substantial concessions to get them to disband and rejoin the FNM. On the other hand if the PLP is successful in getting its own members back in the fold, it can totally ignore the DNA and consider them a rift in the opposition. Unlike the FNM or the DNA their focus will be on fighting a split, but single opposition. This is to their advantage and from here on in their loyalty needs to be only to their own membership. Then after the election hindsight will be 20:20 vision for those who cannot see now.
Some are saying that some of these killings are gang related. If a known rival gang member is caught on another gangs turf he is executed. If a member of a gang is killed then other members carry out revenge killings. Some say there are more than 50 gangs operating in the Bahamas, most in New Providence. Some gangs recruit members from junior and high schools and other members are "forced" to join gangs simply because they live in an area where the gang operates. Despite there being laws on the books outlawing gang activity, gang leaders and having membership in a gang, not one single person has been charged under these laws in the Bahamas.
