The biggest Haitian threat to this country is not the illegal immigrant who come here illegally you know. These are the most humble, laoyal, "law abiding " people you want to meet. The "problem Haitian". Is those who were born here and who feel this country owes them more rights and privileges than it owes natural born Bahamians. The worst offenders, however, are those Haitians who had migrated to the U.S. or Canada and were caught up in crime then deported to the Bahamas. They are dangerous, criminally minded animals who have no respect for man or law. They the ones who need to be deported,
Don't let this government steal your joy. They may just be puppets being manipulated by animals who believe the Bahamas was too good for Bahamians. When things was tuff back in the day a Bahamian mother could get 1/4 pound a Bologna sausage, a small tin a tomato paste a small onion and a pound of rice and feed her family. When the current went off it didn't affect most people anyway because they all pack in one room usnd tell stories til they fall sleep. Today the I phone the x box the play station and even Facebook require (BEC) power to operate. Many young people don't realize they're human and they have a family till the current go off. thanks. Leslie!
Well I don wish for it to fail. Maybe they have enough clientele to open the casino. There are guests at the Melia Sandals and Breezes. Then there are several thousand Chinese still working on the project and a few hundred Fillipinos, the Bahamian workers on the site cannot gamble in the casino. They have to take their money to Flowers or Sebas
If BoB recovers like they project then it's share price should increase by 50 % which will put the share price of BOB in line with all the other shares of banks that have recover. Shareholders should be smiling again by December.
The traffic chaos in Cable Beach have already started. Apparently the service entrance for Bah Mar is by the round about by the Melia hotel. There is a backup into the round about as cars try to get into this entrance. Then there is a bus stop and overflow parking across the highway by Scotia bank. This creates a situation similar to the one at COB where persons are constantly crossing the road and bringing traffic to a standstill. So traffic that normally flows freely is backed up on both sides. What's even worse is that there is a pedestrian crossing just as you are exiting the round about. With the congestion there have been several accidents where motorists try to stop for pedestrians on the crossing and they are rear ended by cars coming out the round about.
The United States legalized marijuana in most of its states for two reasons: it decided that the war on (marijuana) drugs was too expensive to continue and, despite it's best efforts too much money was leaving the country (United States) and ending up in countries like Colombia and Mexico where it is being used to support drug cartels, gang activity and maybe even terrorism. Secondly studies show that the preference among younger generations is switching away from alcohol and towards marijuana. Many companies feel that if weed continues to be a contraband they will lose out on great business opportunities. A number of states that have legalized weed for recreational use report that while the consumption of the product decreases when it became legal, they were still able to realize huge taxes from it. The Bahamas and Caribbean countries must prepare for the day when the U.S. pulls the assets used in the war against marijuana from the region. These countries can be flooded with drugs as they will not have the resources to combat the flow.
So is Bradley Roberts also coming out of retirement? Where is Hubert Ingraham? The fact is the Bahamian economy is still in the dumps. And while there are signs of life in tourism and while regulating and taxing the gaming industry will help stop some of the cash leaking out of the economy there has to be some healthy growth across the entire economy before the world slips into another recession. VAT is a greedy parasite and if there is no substantial growth it will consume all the funds from what cash activities that are going on. There is a real threat that the economy can dry up.
When I was in college (and before I drop out) anyone could go to the library and see the university 's plan for future growth and development. They had a short term 5 year plan an intermediate or 10 year plan and a 25 year long range plan. These included student enrollment projections, programs that will be offered the expected fees students would pay for enrollment and projections or expenses and revenue for the college. Then there were maps of what the college campus was expected to look like in 10 and. 25 years. This is what needs to be done with BEC. Water and sewerage the hospitals the schools. Then at least those who get elected and have no vision will have something to build on. More importantly the people will have a standard by which we measure them. What we been having mostly is one government coming in and building a foundation and another government coming behind and digging it up. A bird cannot fly with two left wings it must have balance. So must a government have vision and continuance
Man (God's creation) has more knowledge and technology and resources than at any time in at least 2,000 years. Yet he has built a civilization that he cannot control. he can't keep the lights of, he cannot keep the water flowing, He cannot stop the dump from burning. Sickness and disease are taking their tolls, while the average person cannot pay their bills and one quarter of the population is living below the poverty line and many are starving, one percent of the population controls 50 percent on the earth's wealth. It costs 74 cents to produce one kilowatt of electricity in Ghana but the government sells it for 52 cents because "they want to remain competitive." And in at least one other African state the current is off for only 12 hours on a good day
