Is there really anything the Union can do but flex its muscles? If you had a whole pie and shared it with 700 people you cannot expect the same pie to go around if someone else is taking 1/3 of it. Unfortunately the human resource has become the most disposable input in the communations business. The retail business module is also becoming obsolete so thousands in this sector may soon be jobless
Hope they are not planning nothing mechanical that will break down twice a week and not work when the rains come. Pinewood was originally planned as an upper class subdivision. But after the developers found out it was prone to flooding the developers cut the size of the lots and dumped them on poor people. Some persons were so anxious to own a piece of the rock they still bought houses after hearing the horror flooding stories.
Did anyone start the official countdown to the opening of Bah Mar, (like 4 weeks) But we will get to that as soon as we confirm who is headlining for Junkanoo Carnival. Plenty hotel rooms to fill now.
What effect does social media, including Facebook, video games and movies have on a persons mental well being Many young people use these as avenues to escape reality. But now many of these mediums are becoming hostile and filled with anger and violence. So an individual may be left between a rock and a hard place. Some have little or no social skills in the real world. Just this morning a 16 year old boy jumped to his death from an overpass on to a busy highway. Then what effect does drugs play in all of this
Can you tell me who is really running this country the IMF, the World Bank, who? The two main planks in the PLP's campaign platform and charter for governance was increase in employment and reduction in crime. Unemployment and crime has increased under this government and they have done nothing substantative to ease the economic hardship of Bahamians. Wouldn't it be a wiser thing to get the economy moving and getting crime down before introducing new taxes?
If the government continues to pile tax upon tax on the backs of poor working Bahamians it will mean that the poor will always be poor as they will never have enough funds to dig themselves out of the financial ditch their own government has dug for them. It will also mean that those living below the poverty line and are not now making ends meet will have an even greater battle for survival and more of them will become disillusioned and may drop out of society and not seek employment. These are the very ones the scheme is proposed to assist. This government is growing to fast in a very lean economy. It has become more than a gussimae. While NHI may be a good thing on the face of it we all know that corruption and government inefficiencies will make it too expensive. The full brunt of VAT has not yet been experienced in the economy and if there is no growth over the next 6-12 months governments VAT revenue will decline and so will employment. Another 5.4% withdrawal of salaries out will kill the economy dead.
PS. If Miller leaves the PLP what do you think will be his destination: (1) retirement (2) the FNM ((3) The DNA (4) Hang out for a while, then go swimmingly back to vomit?
Unfortunately BEC itself is stealing from its consumers. Not only are bills higher per unit of electricity consumed over the past few months, but BEC has started the habit of disconnecting consumers again to make that disconnection and reconnection fees. Then they place a sticker on your meter saying you have been shut off. What about persons who don't get home until 8,9 10 o'clock at night. Who goes in a meter box at that hour? Why can't this cash starved dinosaur send out text messages letting consumers know their power is to be disconnected. Then when you go in to pay they say you been disconnected for a bill"that was just mail out" so if it "was just mail out", how could it be past due? This whole government needs shock treatment!
